Firsts SUCK!

SO I've lived through several firsts. Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year. Another 1st was weird and unexpected. I was at the MedExpress just getting a physical for a new job. I wasn't expecting anything to hit me like this did. I was just sitting waiting for my turn to be called and a mother and son walked by. His name had been called and they were on their way to the window. He'd said something about, "Why had my name been called?" And she said, "You're 18 now, you are going to have to learn to do this stuff by yourself and don't worry I'll always be your Mommy." While a little put off by her tone, she was speaking as if to a toddler, I almost broke into tears, cause I wanted my Mommy. Then, as the nurse was asking me if I'd ever gotten a tetnus shot, I remembered clear as day the first tetnus I ever got, because I'd stepped on a rusty nail in the back yard while playing, and it was my Mommy who took me to the hospital. Finally, I was getting a TB test and she asked me how I was with needles, and I said, "I'm ok if they are for someone else but for myself it's hit or miss." And she said, "You have experience watching others get a needle." And that was it, I started to tear up in the middle of the doctor's office. I had accompanied my mother to 95% of her doctor's appointments and hospital visits for nearly 10 years. I'd seen her take and even given her, her insulin shots. Warned the nurses at the hospital and when she had to get blood tests at LabCorp that she had little veins that rolled and you have to use a baby needle to get it done right. All that from a TB test. I got home and saw a birthday card from a friend out of town, my birthday is next week. I'll be 44 years old. I've decided, if I didn't already know that FIRSTS SUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
