First Year anniversary
WOW......it has been almost 1 year since I ended up in the hospital with bi lateral PE's and a couple of DVT's in my left leg.
For a variety of reason, I am still taking the warfarin but will see about getting off of it next month. I have a BIG CONVENTION coming up that I had to miss last year due to things and I am NOT about to miss it this year! Thus a large part of the reason I am still taking the medicine.
I am feeling pretty good but still have some bad days once in awhile. I have mild chest pain off and on when I get upset or anxious about things. So needless to say, I am still taking medicine for that as well. I don't know if I will get off of this medicine for a while yet but I am okay with that as I am more functional I think in the long run. My patience with 2 little ones isn't what it used to be and I know the meds help a lot with that aspect.
I do have some anxiety about the upcoming anniversary but am trying to let it go the best I can. I haven't really told anyone that until just now. I hope that is fairly normal given everything I went through last year.
I have learned to listen more to my body and to do what it needs to the best of my ability. Last weekend for Mother's Day, I was without the girls or hubby for about 24 hrs. I spent most of that time in bed, sleeping, relaxing, resting....as my body just craved the extra rest.It is hard for some people to understand that sometimes I just need to crash and burn. Of course, that is pretty hard to do these days when I am basically a single parent to a 6 yr old and a 1 y old girls.
I am trying to plan a summer just like any normal summer for the girls. That means grandma has to keep moving daily!! The doctors say it is good for me to keep moving but some days I do have to wonder if they know what they are talking about.
I got a compliment the other week that I wanted to share. I took the 1 yr old for her WIC and shot appt. The gal that was going to give her her shots cold not get over how big she had grown or the fact she was now 1 yr old. The gal and I visited. She didn't realize that I was raising the 1 yr old these days and had been since October 2013. ( I wheeled the 1 yr old in her carseat in on my rollator so she had a carriage ride in and around!) The gal thought that was wonderful that I was doing it. She asked if I had any problems with the baby and I told her not yet anyhow. The gal is VERY PREGNANT by the way! We kept talking and she found out that I was also raising a 6 yr old grand daughter to which she replied, " You want to be my mother also!" I laughed but it made me feel good. She asked me again before I left when she found out that I was still working very part time for the school system. She was so amazed that I was raising 2 granddaughters basically on my own plus working part time after having the PE's,etc just barely a year ago. I told her I am not up to raising any more kids! LOL
Things are better with my hubby also. We were finally able to talk and straighten a few things out between us the other weekend. He would like to be home more but I know he is working this job to support us. We talk daily with more communication between us. I haven't really said anything bad about him being gone since I know he is doing it to support us. I was a single parent (widow) before and know I can do it again if need be. I just have to suck up a few things here and there.
In closing, I would like to say it was been an up and down year for me. I know overall I have been very lucky as I have not had a lot of extra or side issues due to the PE's & DVT's for which I am very thankful for. I know that life can and does go on after such an experience. I also know it doesn't mean that it can't happen again at a later date. Anything is possible and I might not be so lucky.
To anyone who has just had their first PE, hang in there. Life does get better over time. The amount of time varies with each one of us. There will be ups and downs along the way especially if you have other health issues like I do. I have a lot to look forward to this year. We are expecting 2 new grand babies in our family plus I have a new great niece or nephew on the way as well. So lots of babies joining the family this year!
I don't know where life will find me come fall, but hopefully, I will be around and kicking granddaughter's butt all over the place. Hopefully, the little one will be walking and giving me MORE exercise as well!
Until next time.......have faith and hang in there!

This is great. You sound like you\'ve found some peace and made some peace. It is a WONDERFUL thing you are doing by raising your grandchildren. Not everyone would step in and do that. And it\'s great you and your husband have readjusted. I swear so much comes down to communication. I know when my husband and I are off balance, that\'s usually the culprit- either lack of communication or just communicating really poorly. But when you can get back to the center with each other, it renews your commitment and strengthens your bond and you feel like no matter what happens, it\'s doable.
Glad you are finding your sea legs again!
