First visit in Prison

This past Sunday was my first visit with my son since he was transferred to Wasco State Prison. I hadn't seen or talked to him since he transferred there in February. It was only an hour and a half drive and very little traffic. The processing to get in and see him went as well as can be expected. That took maybe an hour or so. I think people try to be considerate of each other because they know they could lose visitation and we're all in this together. I knew I was going to visit him through glass but will be happy when that's over with. He looks good and I was relieved for that. He and his cellie get along OK and he has written me to say thank you for the books I've been sending Joshua because he gets to read them too. He has been in for quite awhile and won't be getting out any time soon. He's trying to school Joshua and keep him out of trouble but I'm not naive, it's prison! I've listened to lots of stories from a close family member who has been a CO for a long time. Of course that's coming from him and not an inmate.
