First Visit

In their last court review, the ruling that Mom and Dad couldnae visit the children at the same time was rescinded. Their romantic roles were stronger than their parenting roles and. . . Ouchies for all any time life strayed from romantic perfection. Even with the detachment of strangers, sniping couples are hard to be around. The romantic waltz that ushered the children into protective custody wasnae even their most lively waltz. Just the waltz that broke the neighbor's patience. The revised court order says the visits must still be supervised, but they can visit them as *A Couple*. Prayers in progress that *The Couple* can let their romance take a back seat to parenting teamwork. Just praying. . . Since Mama doesn't drive, the revised court order makes the 3 hour each way more sensible for all. Overnight visits are still prohibited, so. . . Respecting court orders and letting God lead the dance.

Last night was the first parental visit under the new custody arrangement. Still processing, but so far, so good. The visit seemed to settle considerable anxiety for the 2 older children. However unstable the parents, they remain irreplaceable. Compensation for loss is possible but the bond is in the DNA. So *I* believe. Proof irrelevant. Just believing.

The elder GD (granddaughter) has really taken to being a turkey mama. She dragged me up to the turkey den before first light and found her babies agitated and noisy. She quickly had all 20 babies nestled in her lap and resting peacefully before the first rays of dawn colored the eastern horizon. I still donnae know, but my first guess is that we have 5 each of white midget, blue slate, black spanish and narraganset. Just guessing while we let the mystery unfold.

I’m glad that the first visitation went well and I agree that parents are “irreplaceable” regardless of “instability”, especially for young children. Some bonds cannot be broken because they are part of what makes us, but they can be weakened.

I pray and hope that the journey forward continues to be a positive and healing one for the GKs, you & your husband, and the parents. As you say, “let God lead the dance”.

Hugs & love, my dear friend!

Thank you, Mighty River. The older GKs do seem calmer today for the bonding time with Mom and Dad. The baby is going with the flow.

Prayers ongoing. . . Itsy bitsy baby steps.

Baby steps can be fun especially if we let the “inner child” escape the “inner babysitter”. I’m notorious for sneaking past my “inner babysitter” for some much needed playtime with my daughters.

Hugs and love Arfie. Perhaps the baby turkeys and the GKs can distract the “inner babysitter” long enough for you to make your escape. ;)

Hm-m-m-m-m. . . I think I'm confused enough without exploring "inner babysitters." Perhaps 6 younger siblings disallowed that development? One can hope. . .

Lol.

The “Inner Babysitter” is a reference from one of my favorite books by Terry Pratchett..., “The Hogfather”. Afterwards it stuck with me. Now it’s the family inside joke between me and my girls. Anytime one of our “inner child” runs amok someone threatens us with the “inner babysitter”.

BBC did a movie of “The Hogfather” and I think it might be available on YouTube but not sure. I’d have shared the clip but couldn’t find it. The movie isn’t the book but it’s still great fun.

Cheers my friend. Hugs & love!

The Turkey Mama of Horehound Hill might be a bit enthusiastic in her affection. She injured a baby yesterday. As of last night the prognosis wasnae looking favorable for the wee critter. Sigh. . . Life's never ending learning curve strikes again.

The poor baby turkey. Does GD know she caused it? Yes, a life lesson regardless. Hugs.

I'm not sure it really registered with her and I did not press it. I just pushed on with the lesson on how to listen to her babies.

Worse still, snakes got four of the babies last night. I am environmentalist enough to defend the rights of predator species, butttttttaaaa ! ! !

MY BABIES! ! !
