First support group or chat I have ever been involved in?
This is the first online chat and or support group online I have ever been involved with so please bear with me.
55 I have been a nurse for 35 years, loved the profession, patients, coworkers and employers. It has come to an end. I am on long term disability from my hospital and abruptly into retirement.
I have had 8 neck back surgeries, SCS implant, working with r shoulder 1/2 torn off just had rotator cuff repaired 5 months ago. Recently diagnosed with essentially no ferritin so receiving iron infusions.
Not making the best choices in the last year since I have not been working, ongoing fatigue, pain, feeling helpless, hopeless at times despite being a very positive person. Always look at the best in life. Being a nurse and what I have encountered over the past 35 years, makes me appreciate every moment, and how fortunate I am. I am first on the waiting list on ebay for a new back when they come out, LOL. Huh, can replace the heart, lungs, kidneys but I am stuck with this back darn it anyway.
It has been a couple of years since I have been able to ride my mountain bike, and take my lightweight kayak up towards Glacier and just paddle along the shores of remote, peaceful incredibly gorgeous small lakes. Due to restrictions following surgery after surgery. Having DDD sucks and the discs always needing microdiscetomy or fusions. Not just the pain but the compression of nerves and weakness, don't want to leave a nerve compressed for to long.
Having a couple epidural blocks Monday, seeing the neurosurgeon later this month. Appears a 3 level lumbar fusion will probably be coming up in the next couple years but who knows miracles happen.
My dreams and goals are to travel around the USA and find a new place to relocate to at least for the winter months from the snow and ice here in Montana. I have downsized with the intentions of living in an RV to travel and find out what feels right for me for my golden years, or maybe I should say my tin years. Not sure if an RV is the right choice for me or not, contemplating this for sometime now. Might be easier on my back to stay at VRBO in a real bed, or motels, or housesitting jobs.
Thanks for listening to me, just needed to vent, and hopefully find others for support and friendship through this and in the future
