First step
I heard from the lady at Children's Hospital on Thursday that is responsible for the information gathering etc. for getting Sarah finally admitted into the hospital. She left me a message while I was in the shower and I was on my way out the door so didn't call back until later in the afternoon. That actually worked out ok as I was seeing Dr.J that morning and she was able to answer a couple of my questions before I called this lady back.Unfortunalely I've left 2 messages and still not connected with her. But Dr.J did say not to worry because she knows her and said she's kind of slow at returning messages etc. but that this means Sarah's name has come to the top of the list and that they are finally working on putting a list together for admissions for when the ward reopens. For those of you reading this - my daughter Sarah, 18 now, has been on the wait list since Jan. for admissions because she's been increasingly physically ill since last Sept. Some was solved by an endocrinologist (extreme hypothyroid) and the rest numereous dr's say are her psych meds making her sick. Probably because she's on so many and for so long and the combination has combined with Sarah's "metabolic syndrome" (still learning about that one).Anyway med docs won't touch this because it's psych meds and psych docs all agree she needs to be admitted to hospital to assess. Problem is that Childrens closed the ward we need for renovations just as she was put on the list and it still isn't reopened. We tried the other big local hospital closest to where we live, but they said she was too young for their psych ward.UGH!I'm hoping to hear back from that lady from the hospital next week and maybe hear something positive.
