First Post Reply Sums Things Up
Here I am. Giving something new a try. Sometimes we lose sight of what's good and our own strengths when we feel malnourished and weak in some areas. I've lacked stimulation, social support and engagement. These are parts I know need to be fed.
Its comforting to know that though I can feel so alone, I am not alone in this feeling.
Someone posted about feeling alone and anxious, and feeling uncomfortable socially and incapable of "small talk". Thought my reply was a pretty good summation of where I currently am. So I figure it's worth sharing again and be a good place to start:
Really appreciate this post. I can totally relate. I like to have laughs and not be heavy all the time, but get annoyed and bored with trivial small talk. Trying to find some balance. The thing is, I’ve become so annoyed and withdrawn that there aren’t many around to try and find that balance with. Taking a step by exploring these forums, and hopefully relating and getting to know new people. Because I know that through the fog, the internal and external barriers, and beyond my discontent- I can actually care about others and be a social person. Out of curiosity, who else is in their 30s in New York City and in the arts?
