First OB appt
I had my 1st OB appointment today. It went well. A little overwhelming but good. Just tons of info. I go for another ultrasound next Wed. I am excited to see my little peanut again! They do recommend some testing for Down's syndrome and other abnormalities since I am of "advanced maternal age." Puke! I continue to hope for a healthy full term baby. Sorry, I haven't been on here much. Nausea and fatigue are hitting hard. But that just means my little peanut is still there and growing. Wishing everyone the best and tons of BFP's for all.

Yay! So glad things are looking good. It was always such a relief to come away knowing that things were good. Kept me at least partially sane - for the rest of the afternoon anyway. :)
Personally, I opted not to do that screening. I read up on it (a LOT) and decided not to get it. I think my husband was leaning towards getting it done. But, what I found in my research is that it is not just based on your blood work, but they also factor in maternal age, genetic background, etc. to come up with a \'likelihood\'. The rate of false positives is high...I think for this reason. I decided that the anxiety that could be caused by a false positive wasn\'t worth it. I was barely keeping it together anyway. Plus, there would be lots of other ways down the road that would be more accurate, such as the anatomy scan at 20 weeks. I figured I\'d rather wait for something that was more definite from the first than something that was based, at least partially, on someone\'s opinion.
Anyway, there\'s my 2 cents on it. :)
Yay glad things went well and you get to see your little one next week again!
Yay! I hope going to the new Doc was great. Was this just the appointment to chat about everything and do all the tests (are there any tests left after being an IVF patient?) So happy you get to have another scan soon! You are close to 9 weeks now, right? I go for my 8 week scan on Wednesday and I\'m freaking out!
I hope that the fatigue and nausea go away soon. It should get better in a couple weeks, and then begin to go away around 12 weeks. Hang in there!
Awesome update!! Keep up the great work :).
I am on the fence about the screening. I will talk to the DH when I get home tonight. I am 9 weeks. They offered to write a script for meds for nausea but I opted to wait it out. If it continues after the 1st trimester, I may take them up on it. Any other input on the screening?
Yay! Glad your first OB appointment went well. As \"comforting\" as the nausea and tiredness are, I\'m sure you\'re also ready to be done with them. Three more weeks \'til you\'re out of the first trimester!
We haven\'t been given the option of screening yet, but we were given the option during IVF. Our RE thought one or both of us might have Fragile X Syndrome and presented testing as an option. We opted not to do it because we didn\'t want to let it sway our decision about which embryos to transfer and/or tempt us to do things we don\'t morally agree with. Good luck with your decision!
I personally think there is no wrong answer. Whatever you choose is beat for you is the right choice so don\'t sweat it. My personal experience with the screening test is that my DH was a mess about. For some reason he was just terrified. Me, I was really cool with it because I knew how hard it was for me to get preggo & I wasn\'t going to let something like Down syndrome being me down. I felt that regardless of what it said I would love that baby regardless. I know things would be harder but not impossible ;) oh and I\'m not sure if they explained how the results come anyway? It\'s not a definite yes or no. They give you a percentage of the odds of the baby having it. Hope this helped. Dont worry, whatever you & your DH decide is what is right to do for you. Good luck!!
Thanks for your input, ladies. I think we have decided NOT to do the screening. Since there are not 100% accurate, we are not going to put ourselves through that.
