First follow up after surgery

Saw the doc this afternoon.  Everything went well.  The pain in my side is a pulled muscle.  My incisions are fine.  My diet has been advanced to pureed.  So far I've had a few bites of mashed pot n gravy and some cottage cheese (not at the same time).  It really doesn't take much at all and I'm full.  I've also been released to return to work since I work from home.  So it's back to that on Monday.  I have to say that I don't really have much energy yet so if I had to go into the office, I would have asked for another week off.  But it should be fine.  If I peter out I'll just have to break for a nap or something.

I am glad you have made it through so well, good for you!!!
I am a little suprised that mashed potatoes and gravy are an allowed food as it is all starch and fat. My instructions were NO starch...no bread, pasta, potatoes or rice. High protein low or no fat only. Maybe I missed something in the translation. I would love to have a little of those items but am staying away as I am looking for maximum weight loss in the shortest time possible.
Whatever the doc says for you is what you need to stick with though.
I hope everything works out for you and congrats for making it through in good shape. Happy losing!!

Patrick,
My meals are broken down to 4 medicine cups which total 1/2 cup of food. The first two should be protein, the 3rd veggies, and the 4th, if room, is for starch. The mashed potatoes and gravy doesn\'t fit that plan does it? It was just my test run to see how it was going to go down. I was kind of afraid to try meat first. It just so happened that I had had over 60 gms of protein before I tried my first pureed food yesterday so all was good. I do see a lot of variation between the diet recommendations from doc to doc. Happy losing to you too!
