New to this so I'll be brief. I have ulcerative colitis and crohns both. Aren't I just special? I was diagnosed in '88 after having diarrea for six weeks and dropping 30 pounds in that short time. Sudden onset, it was called. I was hospitalized for 9 days in one hospital then transferred to another for 12 more. Was finally diagnosed with a twinned version of the two, which has been confirmed by other doctors through the years. Lucky me. A lot of years, and trial and error, later here I am. I don't work, could work part-time but there I just don't have the "uumphf" to get out there and struggle to find one. The u.c. is mostly in remission but the crohns is always lurking. Slight to moderate cramps, always tired, and a general vague feeling of irritation. Add seasonal affective disorder and gee, I'm a barrel of fun. Actually, as spring creeps in my mood is lightening. I have gotten involved with voluteering some, not taken any firm ongoing commitments, but staying busy. I volunteer for one project at a time, not more than a month in advance. I just found out I can do calls, to previous supporters, promoting fund-raisers for a local womens shelter, from home, as I feel like it. I am doing the computer work for another volunteer group. This stuff helps. I just have to keep telling myself that I am not useless because I am not a perfectly healthy person. Sometimes it actually works.
