First Christmas
Well, I made it, now one more nasty to go (New Year's Eve) and I'll be done. Went to my sister's yesterday for the family gathering. It was hectic and crazy as usual but it made me realize how very many people really love and support me. I am so fortunate in that way. My stepson, who I raised since he was 7, came with me. Before we left he gave me my gift and a card. We always joke around a lot so I was ready for anything (he's 27 now), and this is what the card said,: "If someone were to offer me a million dollars or the world's greatest Mom," (at this point I was prepared for anything), and when I opened it it said, "I'd take the million because I already have the world's greatest Mom!" Needless to say, I cried and blubbered and embarrassed the heck out of him but it did my heart such good. If nothing else from these last 20 years, I got one wonderful son out of the deal and I feel like the luckiest person on earth. I must have done something right! Today I am roasting a prime rib for my cousin and myself. She, too, is alone and so we're going to have prime rib, drink champagne and watch movies. It's not just making the best of things, it's doing something I really want to do. I can't believe I made it this far. My guardian angel truly blesses me.
