finished kr's memoir//cabinets delivered with estimates//bottle feeding the runt kitten
i am trying to put a meme/joke on here but ds won't come up if i have facebook up. grrrrr. the screen turns black instead?
had a super busy day and i'm exhausted. the man delivered the cabinets and did estimates in the house. checked on the new rescue and bottlefed the little one. the runt took 20 ml's of formula so i think she isn't getting enough from the mother. she is the only one not eating the moist food....that kind of thing. cute though. k and one of the boys is also checking on them daily. i also brought them an animal water cooler. my animals don't use it, they prefer basins with water. the room needs more air circulation so switching out the double doors to something with screens may also be a good idea in addition to a ceiling fan. i'd put a cat door or vent in the interior door, except they will be doing work in the hall .... the single rescue is also on formula and mostly ignoring the moist food except for the first day, so still too little. i think about 5 weeks.
hoped to get a nap before going back to my office, instead i ended up buying food for both houses and getting my haircut. the woman had to cut it twice. she was kind of out of it. everything she asked, she answered with what she does and didn't really hear a word i said and i had to re-answer her over and over. amazes me when she does that. but i also don't remember things the kids say or even the workers and then i realize and try not to ask, but they'll be like, remember i told you we are going to -- and i'm thinking hmmmm, you mentioned that yup....(don't remember though) her's is worse, as its DURING the conversation. what is that? scary. she left the layers and length too long and had to recut it. amazing because she has been my stylist for 9 years. i said do you need a photo because normally i take a photo from the style book in the lobby, but this is at her house, and she says, no i remember it. guess not. lol.
finished off kr's memoir and started another one. kr focuses a lot on her super happy childhood, growing up on the upper east side of manhattan/nyc - that alone is rare, i can only think of maude lovelace and eleanor estes who wrote about a childhood they viewed as super happy.
kr says: "to her, the upper west side was like another planet." [the upper west is pricey but fairly casual and the upper east is known for being conservative and traditional - a lot of people who are anal and have a poker stuck up their butts. lol.] i knew kr from ballet school and i was the only "professional kid" amongst us, even though i was the youngest one.
when i moved from the upper west to the upper east, kr went totally ecstatic about it. and her father was like, she likes you. lol. guess so. she was a good friend. so long ago. i don't think i ever picked up that her view of the upper west side was the other planet thing, though i must have heard about it. lol.
she says, she did "solo travel" by taking an extra week on her own, whenever she traveled with groups of any sort. very brave, especially in other countries. so she grew. and she realized that most people don't go to primary school in a building that is actually a former castle that was renovated and made into a private school. she attended school there for 8 years - so she grew with that as well.
i haven't seen her in years. we were both at the same function in the late 80's/early 90's and her boyfriend stepped on my foot and stayed there STANDING on my foot for a couple of minutes. couldn't get his attention to get off it. finally had to SAY to him, you are standing on my foot. couldn't even move the foot from under him as back then i weighed about 100 pounds and he easily weighed 200. totally black and blue. grrrr. but that is the last thing i remember about her in person. what amazed me is that word of my foot travelled all over the place, even in uptown manhattan and i didn't expect it. i never go for that kind of thing. so you have total strangers asking you how your foot is. i always feel invaded from that.
kr mentions that she got cancer in the 2000's. i must have known this already and too awkward to bring it up and say, hmmm did we ever discuss this. surprised though. i still think stress causes cancer.
headed to the marina. this week will be as busy as last. camp stuff for a and k is having company and july is a b-day month, just like june.
