Finally Heard from My Old Buddy!

We had a major argument on the phone 3-and-a-half years ago after my brother died and my buddy was fighting with his girlfriend.  Now, finally, an e-mail!  He seems very sincere and remorseful about the way we let things go, as am I.  A bit cautious with this guy though.  We were always sort of "partners in crime" and I never really know what his motivation is.  The guy's not entirely evil; he can be very sweet, but ya never know...maybe he needs me for a place to crash like he always did when his girlfriend kicked him out (for not paying his share of the rent).  But he was always very inspiring to talk with about movies and storytelling, and I miss that excitement, that passion!  So I guess we all "use" each other to some degree!  Gonna be interesting!  I'll invite him over, but more than 2 days sleeping at my place and he's out.  Not gonna enable him to "flee" from his girlfriend...but I'm so damn lonely right now that his company is welcome.
