Finally... Forward Progress On The Home

Well, the appraisal didn't come back with the amount we'd hoped. It was low AGAIN... but this time the seller was much more reasonable and worked with us to find a solution that made everyone happy. The purchase price was lowered, but in exchange I'm picking up closing costs and the bulk of the repairs needed (with the exception of the HVAC). Whew! Yesterday was an emotional roller coaster! I hope to never live through anything like that again. But, it was all worth it, for as of right now, we have a deal!!!!!! WOOHOO!!!!!

There's still lots of work to be done though. Home owner's insurance needs to be moved to this new property, POAs need to be filed, a hotel for the trip and a UHaul need to be booked, and we need the lender to give us the official closing date so that we can make those arrangements (as well as wire funds, turn on utilities, and get workers over there for the immediate repair needs that are beyond my homesteader skill set).

This is without a doubt the most intense period of my life, thus far. I feel like I've grown a crap ton as a person, gained a whole lot of new strengths, skills, and outlooks... but damn! It all came with a hefty price tag.

In other news, I also have a couple of new career potentials lined up for myself once I arrive at the new homestead, which the hubby and I have lovingly named "The Gateway"... as it has a big arched front doorway. ;) I guess positive change really does happen outside of one's comfort zone, and the pain that comes along with it is a necessary consequence of constantly being reborn.

Glad this is working for you. My daughter is going into a new townhouse and it passed inspection. They close at the end of the month.

Buying property can be scary and exciting too.

Thank you, Briggy! It's now done until we officially close, so I'm trying not to get myself too excited, but... well... I am starting to get excited anyway. LOL! Home owners insurance is done and POAs go in the mail tomorrow. That just leaves me to find a plumber, and the hubby to transfer over the utilities once we are given our closing date. I also have to book and UHaul and the hotel.
