finally done with radiation
I just want to thank everyone with their ongoing love, friendship and support on dailystrength! I am so glad to find this website. I love all the hugs everyone has given me these past few months. Now that I am done counting down, I will have to think about whatelse to count down and look forward to. This week, my 6th week, they gave me boost treatments, 1 round of radiation at a lower dose. My energy did come back quite a bit and was able to do a few more things. Its been a crazy few weeks. Takingcare of my brothers boarder collie Scout while he is away on business for 3 weeks, staying at my parents house, dealing with my grandmother and her laundry. All this while doing radiation - don't know how I did it. this week was good but last week was very difficult. I will be glad when things get back to normal and my brother comes and picks up the dog. I can get home to my cat.
On my last day, Valerie the PA gave me a parting gift. A fleece blanket that a club made and donated (many others) to Roswell Park Cancer institute. Thought that was nice. we were talking and voiced my concerns about the whole cancer ordeal. I am still very nervous about my 6th month checkup in October. What happens if this comes back from the mammo? I was diagnosed back in November 2009 due to my mammo. I am scared to death but I will try and keep it in the back of my mind. Valerie reassured me. I left Roswell in tears and cried in my car - the whole emotional thing really got to me today. She said to celebrate that you finished radiation - she's only a phone call away. I feel like I lost my safety net with Roswell - knowing that they were keeping an eye out for me. I keep thinking "what if" I have to stay positive, I know. I do have a followup appt next month. I was so upset that I forgot to go to the front desk and make one. I will do this next week when I am up to it.
