Finally! An Update!

"How we spend our days is, of course, how we spend our lives."– Annie DillardI haven’t blogged in several weeks nor have I really been very active here on DS. Things have just been so busy here! I had finals, Husband started back to school, and I went through a severe spell of grieving my Grammie. With all that listed I am doing better and things are starting to slow down! I plan on catching up with blogs as I miss you guys so much! Finals went very well. I got a 93% on my final and finished with an overall average of 96%. I am so very happy with that! However, it became bitter sweet for me when the only person I had to celebrate my success was with my Husband. Grammie isn’t here anymore…I couldn’t call her to tell her and I couldn’t hear her say how proud she was. Because of that day by day dealing with her death became so hard. I started to miss her so terribly that it lead me to remember things I had long forgotten.  With all that said I managed to get through that rough spot with the help of Husband and I am moving on. I start my next and final class on the 22nd of this month.  I am so excited! Even better is I am really leaning for futhering my education by working towards getting my Associates Degree of Applied Science in Holistic Medicine.  I am very excited about this, however, I am focusing myself right now on finishing out the degree I am working on now. When I am done I will weigh my options and see where I wish to go. During my hard time mourning my grandmother I realized the necklace she gave to me for my high school graduation I left in Ohio for safe keeping. She had this necklace specially made for me from one of her rings. It is 24k white gold heart with a diamond in the middle. I left it in Ohio for safe keeping with my dad as I was afraid in my adventure into adulthood I would lose it. Realizing I didn’t have it I became so distraught. I just wanted something from Grammie to hold on to as I grieved. Something that held her energy and love- something that meant so much. Her rings that were willed to me were stolen and the other trinkets she gave me my Aunt & Uncle are keeping for me until I can come get them. I had nothing aside from a few figurines I kept about me. The drive to have this necklace lead me to calling my Father. He and I hardly speak as he would rather leave things better left unsaid. When I confessed and told him of the hard time I had been having with Grammies death he said he had no clue where the necklace was as they took every single thing in my room and boxed it up. He said he would look for it. Deep in my heart I know it was stolen- I am not stupid. However, his gesture to find it and overnight it to me via his expense was very kind.  He told me he missed me terribly and that it was good to hear my voice. I cannot help but miss him as well but harbor so much hurt for all that has happened. Perhaps when I go to Ohio in October I will work up the courage to visit and put my past behind me. The “reckoning “ is what I call it.  Oh, and I told him about me graduated from College in December. Instead of blowing me off like he usually does he said "oh really?! You will be the first college graduate in the family! Nice job hunny!" Believe me I was shocked at that comment because he hardly praises me. So, aside from all of that I am slowly coming back to myself. I ordered a bunch of supplies for work- lots of new fall and winter scents for the seasons. I am excited to get back to work and just let my creativity flow. I have some new products I have developed and I cannot wait to see how well they do at the fund raiser I am doing. For those that wish to know. Husband and I are in the path of Hurricane Ike, however, we are inland  so by the time the effects of Ike gets to us we will just have wind, storms and the like. We are prepared though as his trajectory-for now- is passing over us and if you remember Katrina and Rita they affected people pretty badly inland. So, we are NOT taking chances. As said before I cannot wait to get back to reading everyone’s blog. I have missed you guys so much. I really do hope all of you are well! ~Bright Blessings~Rea
