Final trip home for husband.

This weekend, my 2 sons and myself make the trip to Oklahoma to take part of Chuck's ashes down there to be buried over his parent's graves.  Part of him is now resting eternally in the area where he grew up.  The remainder of his ashes will be scattered in the ocean and possibly some in the Mississippi.
Some of Chuck's relatives came to the cemetary, so we had a little ceremony.  Chuck's brother-in-law said a prayer.  We took some balloons for everyone, so each released a couple of balloons.  That was beautiful to see as they drifted upward towards the sky.  They were multi-colored, so that added to the beauty.  We sold balloons at flea markets and craft sales; Chuck also enjoyed flying kites, so doing this had meaning, plus I think it is a nice thing to do.  I had taken a silk flower wreath and vase of flowers to put near the cremains, plus fixed up some bouquets of fresh varigated mini carnations (which was his favorite flower).  His sister also had a silk spray to place over the area.  The weather was gorgeous and so nice that some of his family came. I am tired after making the trip.  It's a 12 hr trip from here.  We did stop in Wichita Friday and then went down to OK on Saturday morning, coming back to Ks Saturday.  Yesterday, the boys and I drove back home, which is a 9 hr. trip.
It's comforting to know that part of hime is now home, hopefully being blessed with eternal rest and peace.
