Figuring out My Stomach
I'm pretty sure that when I eat a lot of grease it makes my stomach act up. I had Hardee's for breakfast this morning and my stomach has been bothering me all day. I know at home I don't eat a lot of grease so it would make sense that it upsets my stomach. I have a lot of salads, chicken with no skin, and low fat milk. I try to keep a lot of fat out of my diet for obvious reasons. Here, and in the hospital there was a lot of greasy food, so my stomach has been acting up. It's the only similarity I can think of, since hospital food is processed heavily and the food here has been made from scratch for the most part but still giving me problems. It might be made from scratch (except for the fast food this morning) but it's Southern food so a lot of it is high fat and butter. It's yummy, but I'm certainly paying for it. I'm sure I've gained a lot of weight since I've been here with the food, but it's vacation, and as my friend said, what else are vacations for? I need to take a break from my life. Not that my life is stressful, but I need something to break the rut I've been stuck in.
It's kinda nice to get up here and get away from it all. I wish I could stay longer, especially since I was unable to spend as much time with my mom as I would have liked. I'm using a lot of excuses- my mom's dog has a flea problem, and follows her everywhere she goes, so I don't want to bring the fleas home to my cat, Angela. My mom's dog is a sweetheart, but it's a pain in the butt when you are trying to avoid her fleas. She loves to jump on the bed, but I don't want her on my bed so I keep my door closed. Not only that, but it's super hot outside and it's killing me and my mom spends all her time either outside or on the computer. I wish we could get out of here and spend some time together, but today her husband went out to play pool so we didn't get a chance to go out. I ended up sleeping all day since I wasn't able to fall asleep until after 1am. I feel bad since it was my mom's only day off while I was here, but I guess I just have to make the effort tomorrow. I just can't sit outside anywhere with her if her husband is home because the other chair out there is covered in fleas from the dog. I think I already have some flea bites since my feet are itching like crazy and I haven't swollen up like I do from mosquito bites. I just need to stop it with the excuses.
I'm very good at making excuses for things I don't want to do. Does this mean I don't want to spend time with my mom, or I just don't want to spend time with the dog? I don't know. I have missed my mom, but I haven't had time to spend time with her, but I've been doing dishes almost every night and morning, and helping out around the house. I almost feel like I'm not on vacation, I'm on babysitting duty. My mom's mil is 82 and she is pretty determined to get things done when she wants them done. If I'm in the room and don't hear her, she will do the dishes on her own even though she can barely stand on her own. I hate to see her do that, so I try and beat her to them, and so does my mom. Sometimes we just don't make it, and then I feel like crap. Her mil also cooks on her own, but she has a little desk in the kitchen that she can use in her wheelchair to prep everything on and she refuses help with that. She sure is a stubborn old lady, but if she can do things on her own, more power to her. I know when you get older you need to keep doing stuff on your own since it helps you feel more independent.
Food was good today for the most part besides breakfast... I had a salad for lunch and pot roast for dinner. I slept pretty good last night and today, but I needed more sleep since it took me forever to fall asleep last night. I'm tired, so I'm just going to head off to sleep now.
