Fight, flight, or freeze
So this is my first journal entry, bare with me guys. Today I have to go into my 2nd job for a 6 hr shift. Not that long, right? Wrong. This 2nd job is an extension of what I do at my full time job, but its much more stressful and busier. I am anxious in the hours leading up to when I have to leave to go to the job,and then at the job...forget it,I'm a hot mess. I keep it to myself, so that I don't have an embarrassing mental breakdown in front of everyone, but some days its extremely hard to act like everything is ok.
Sometimes I have to do a fairly simple task, and yet if 1 tiny thing goes wrong, I get completely stressed out. My counselor says that "freeze" should be added into the fight or flight saying. It's so true, I don't run away, and I don't fight, but I completely freeze up and all of the sudden cannot think straight or perform a task that I've done a million times before. As soon as I'm off my shift, I get into my car and burst into tears, just so frustrated with myself and so exhausted. I don't know id this extra paycheck is with my anxiety emotional exhaustion.
Few hours left until I start...wish me luck.
