Fenbendazole Capsules
Fenbendazole capsules are used to treat or prevent intestinal parasites in dogs and cats. It is a broad spectrum benzimidazole anthelmintic that is effective against giardia, roundworms, hookworms, whipworms, the tapeworm genus Taenia (but not Dipylidium caninum, the common dog tapeworm), pinworms, Aelurostrongylus abstrusus and Strongyloides species. It is also an excellent treatment for lungworms in dogs. It can also be used in kennels and breeding facilities as a preventative treatment for gastrointestinal parasites in young puppies.
In cell culture experiments, fenbendazole increased the expression of wild-type p53 and induced G2/M arrest and apoptosis in cells with mutant p53, as well as autophagy, necrosis and ferroptosis in some cancer cells. It was also found to inhibit tumor growth in mice in vivo. In a model of allergic airway disease, in which ovalbumin exposure induces hyperresponsiveness of airways and increases levels of Th2-derived cytokines in the blood and bronchoalveolar lavage fluid of BALB/c mice, fenbendazole reduced the number of eosinophils in the lung sections of the animals and decreased levels of ovalbumin-specific IgG1 antibody in the serum.
Generally, fenbendazole is well tolerated at regular doses and does not cause side effects in dogs or cats. However, at higher than normal doses, substances released from dying parasites may be the cause of an allergic reaction in some pets and can cause facial swelling, itchiness or hives. If these signs appear, seek veterinary care immediately.fenbendazole capsules
