Feeling very depressed & discouraged
Hello friends,
Really need some support, prayers, and TLC.
Life seems to be throwing one curveball after another. Although I'm struggling to do well, not getting anywhere with my weight or my social life. I've been dateless for almost 5 years now. Did meet a man the other day who was pleasant and would probably date me, but he's not up to the standards I or my family would want for me.
My doctor is driving me crazy. I thought we had an AGREEMENT that it would be 6 months until my next visit, and until more blood tests! Had lab work in January, again in April, and now she wants to repeat it AGAIN IN TWO MONTHS!
My fear is that Medicare will refuse to pay.
My fasting blood sugar was 104, an improvement over the 110 January reading. For those who don't know, fasting blood sugar should be below 100. 100 to 125 is considered pre-diabetic.
My "bad" cholesterol is too high, altho my level of "good" cholesterol is fine, and so are my triglycerides. Since she didn't put me on medication, I don't see why she will test for a third time, expecting a change! I don't eat a lot of fatty foods, but cholesterol is produced for other reasons besides diet.
She is lowering my dose of Synthroid (Levothyroxine) again, claiming it's still too high.
If she would just LEAVE ME THE F---- ALONE for 6 months so I could concentrate on losing weight, that would be better than dragging me in for tests every 2 to 3 months!
I could wring her neck! The only reason I don't "fire" her is that she is finally OK with prescribing Zyprexa and Cymbalta w/o me going to a psychiatrist for them. I had many years of therapy, don't need that. And after being tried on more than a dozen meds, I finally got relief from the bipolar.
I feel so depressed because of this crap! I HATE DOCTORS WITH A PASSION.

babe i no its hard but hopefully its only a temporary thing with the doctor. you never know what theyll test for next. i refuse to go docs for my weight because i have a phobia of needles and the last time i had a blood test i passed out and was lashing out as if having a fit so now i refuse. just think hopefully some good will come of it. you caln always just say no i want it later than that as at the end of the day its ur body so its ur choice!
Hi Judy, just bless your heart, and I am sending a pm.
I hope all goes well with the tests, surely she has a reason to do them a third time.
I have diabetes (type 2) and I get a A1C blood test every three months. I\'m surprised she isn\'t doing that instead of a fasting blood sugar.
Diabeites is BIG BUSINESS! My Hubby also gets AIC tests every 3 months and even if they are OK they want him to come in to hear - \"you are borderline\" We are going in Thursday and I think we will have a meeting of the minds on this very topic. Also sending a PM.
I know WHAT TO DO to bring my blood sugar, weight, and cholesterol down. I wish this dr. would just leave me alone and let me DO IT!!! Testing again in only 2 months is ridiculous and will not be authorized by Medicare! 3 tests in under 6 months is crazy. I\'M NOT DOING IT. Will go back in 6 months and see another dr. THIS BITCH IS FIRED.
I would ask her why she is doing the testing so often. Does that length of time give the medication that she reduced get out of your body? some medications do have to work out of your system and that does take some time. Let the doctor know that Medicare won\'t cover all the labe testing she is doing. I let my doctor know my insurance wouln\'t pay over 4 visits a year and he is trying to stay with that. Of course if I get sick and have to see hime for some reason he takes that into consideration.
Yeah, DITTO!! I have doctors too.
Congrats on your Health improvements, I knew you could do it.
LDL- could be due to the thyroid, if the numbers are high, 3 or higher.
Sounds like you have a doctor that really cares for you. She\'s concerned about your health. When my LDL was high, I was told, \"everything is ok\". I take part in my health and noticed that my LDL was high so I changed my eating habits--that was last yr.
Your doin great.
When you do go back and get anothe doctor I would tell that docter exactly why you are switching doctors and start out the new relationship on your terms. In the meantime work at getting to a healthier place so you will be able to back up your reasons for not doing the frequent doctor visits.
Just a thought, Judy. Have you had this discussion with your doctor. Sometimes they just need to know that we are the ones in control. You could just tell her that you prefer to be tested every 6 months and let her know you can\'t afford the frequent medical billings nor can you afford all the stress over the frequent testing. I wouldn\'t even bother going on to say it... you could have a talk with the receptionist or nurse and let that person know what you\'re trying to do. It helps to get someone in your corner. I don\'t think you\'re out of line with your expectations and I think the doctor will come around. If you\'ve really had it with her though, by all means, get another opinion on all this.
Hope that helps at all.
Have decided to stay with the doctor for now. The thyroid dosage is \"up in the air\" and she needs to see what the results of the decreased dose will show. But as for the cholesterol, testing again in two months probably won\'t show any difference! I\'m just not feeling that I can deal with changing drs. right now, so I\'ll go along with this one for a while longer.
you divide the bad cholesterol number into the good cholesterol number. if its under 3, you are fine. that is what the insurance companies do, but they don\'t tell anyone.
i was prediabetic, i stopped eating white food, which is also a diet, by suzanne somers, but she also gets into what TIME to eat what foods for it to not be a weight gainer, and what food combos zero out each other. i haven\'t tried all of her stuff yet, but i have done the no white food thing and it brought by sugar down to a normal level. switched to whole wheat pasta, no bread unless its brown, avoid all red meat completely and do the fish thing. just that little stuff and what a difference. (and less sweets and no milk except chocolate soy milk, which is a mood lifter and good for you even with the chocolate).
