Feeling proud

Today as the significant other was leaving my family home in a huff with only the both of us home. I had heard enough times that he will be homeless unless I sign a lease with him, guilt trip and a half. However it was not the name calling, the carelessness for whats in my head when I couldn't care more for his.
But he said it, without any of my family being there, he insulted them, he insulted them all. I am half Greek and half English. Whilst I am proud of both sides I have much pride for my Greek side as I know how unaccepted the 'wogs' were a mere 25 years ago.
As I heard him slam down that insult at the top of his lungs from the bottom of the stairs, i jumped to my feet, at the top of the stairs, I snapped.
It literally felt like my brain had snapped. After many apologies,on his behalf.. and once he'd left I asked for time apart.
Tear me to shreds, but I will not allow even a finger raised poorly to my family. I live for them.

Good for you for drawing a line and standing up for what\'s precious to you!

I didn\'t even know I was drawing a line. I think my subconscious just made me fight for the only thing that is constant. Whether their views are warped, or their priorities are jumbled. I still couldn\'t choose them, and for me I think that was enough of a sign... i guess.
