Feeling overwhelmed

Feeling overwhelmed with everything.  School, unemployment, crappy Congress, media out of touch with what is important.

Sometimes I wish there was something I could do to make the world a better place but today as I look at it there is nothing I can do.  Someday after I get done with school I'll be able to help other people through my ability to assist them in finding their way but that is still a couple of years away.  I'm afraid my current financial difficulties will prevent me from attaining my goal of becoming a therapist.  I'm afraid that I'll have another bad bout of depression that will prevent me from taking the action I need to take.  Just feel like I have too much on my plate.

Hi Gary,

I believe you are not alone with the crappy Congress and state of affairs with our country. I agree that it SEEMS as if there is no sunshine (actually snowing here, so there isn\'t lol) but in all reality, the sun is shining, or I wouldn\'t be able to see the snow!

NEVER give up on your dreams of being a counselor. You have done the hard part which is to get started. One of the things I do every morning and night to combat my depression is what some call positive affirmations. I tell myself 3 things that are going better today than yesterday. Sometimes it is as simple as my car started even though it was 24 degrees below zero. But, then I tell myself, what would have happened if my car had not started? What seems a simple thing turns out to be a great blessing that would have created more problems if it had not occurred.

Don\'t know if this helps, but it does work for me, most of the time when I let it ;) Sometimes I am my own worst critic.

Do you ever find yourself in that place; being your own worst critic?
