Feeling Out of Control
It's 5 months since we split. I've been working through a lot of shit. Rather than go hash through the deails, here's a summary of where I am.
> I know that it's not my fault that he cheated. It has nothing to do with what I did, or did not do.
> I don't want to reconcile. He doesn't either, but more importantly, I don't want to be with a man who doesn't cherish me, takes advantage of me, lies to my face and cheats on me. (Duh!)
> I came to a realization that is now my mantra. "I don't need to heal to move on. I need to move on to heal."
So how to move on? I am discovering that I am absolutely starved for love and attention and am finding myself drawn to anyone who shows interest in me. Quite by accident, I fell into an online relationship, which quickly flamed out because he was married. The good news is that it woke me up from my coma on both an emotional and physical level. The bad news is that I now realize how hungry I am for affection and physical contact. I feel like a bear coming out of hibernation. (Clearly, I like analogies.)
So Hungry Bear thinks she's ready to date. I do a 7-day trial on Match, but decide I don't like it. While I'm in the process of taking my profile down, a guy starts chatting with me and again, I am quickly drawn into an online relationship. Turns out to be a Military Romance Scam. It took about a week for me to figure out, and in hindsight, it is absolutely laughable that I got hooked, his story was so unbelievable. (It's called "catfishing," by the way.) But I am an easy prey -- suddenly single, depressed, lonely, trusting and unaware of online romance scams.
Ah, but like Married Man woke me from my slumber, Military Man gave me strength and hope to finally engage a lawyer for the divorce. I'd been dragging my heals, but finally found someone I relate to who isn't affraid of STBX's lawyer, who seems to be THE lawyer in town.
So back to the question of how to move on? Now I'm awake; hungry for love and quite honestly, horny for sex. But if I'm so easily drawn into unrealistic relationships, how can I possibly be ready to date? And how to I manage the hunger for emotional connection and physical attention?
