Feeling kind of sad right now
Hello DS Family, well it's now that time of year again; holiday time. I know I should be happy; but yet I feel this almost crushing sadness. On December 8, 2000, I lost the greatest person in my family; my grandma to Congestive Heart Failure. Ever since she passed away the holidays have never really been the same for me. I can remember her making the holidays so much fun. I can still remember when I was a little girl and me and my brother and my mom and dad would go over to my Grandma's house and have Christmas dinner. The tree would look so beautiful and Christmas carols would be playing on the stereo. I know I will never forget that time as long as I live. I also remember that she never noticed my mental illnesses or my learning disabilities and she never judged me. Me and her would sometimes talk on the phone for hours about what we did that day or about anything and everything. I have had people in my family tell me that I should just get over it; but how can I get over losing a great woman who was such a wonderful part of my life?

Oh honey I know exactly how you feel I lost my Gran 4 yrs ago on the 1st December she was the best ever...she had cancer.....I love her to bits and miss her every single day...I\'m here for you and sending you massive hugs xxxx
Time. I lost my grandma at Christmas too and I missed her for years. She was the one I could always call and the one who made our Christmases. We started our own Christmas traditions which helped a great deal, but time was what finally got us over it. I lost my mom right after Christmas a year or so later. Now it\'s just me and my son, but we celebrate in our own way now. I was 26-27 when they died and my son was 7-8. It gets easier as time passes. (((HUGS)))!!!
I feel your pain. I lost my mother 22 years ago on Dec 10th so this time of year is really hard.
I lost my 2nd hubby on dec 4 2005 and then my dad on dec 4th 2008. I hate that day. My mom passed away March 10 2005. Huggs to everyone. My brother died Nov 4 1979 at the young age of 22. We can all just comfort each other. huggs xoxo
theres no such thing as \"getting over it\" all you can do is learn to manage with it. That however is encouraging because we get to have those wonderful memories. If we \"got over it\" we would lose those memories so don\'t ever get over it. In time it will get easier though.
I can relate to how you feel. I lost my Grandma April of this year.
wow reading all these post I didnt relize how many have lost important family memebers around the hoilday season. It does make me feel better knowing am not alone in my struggle to celebrate the occassion. As the years pass it does become easier to know you only deal with it in a comforting manner. So Ill give thanks to my momma for I am ME today because of her loving soul.
Happy Thanksgiving Rainbowprincess

I do know how you feel. I as well lost my brother when is was only 16. That was many years ago but til this day i still miss him. I wish that he was still here and that I miss him more everyday. I can tell you that I didnt want to do any holidays for a while but then I realized that is not what my brother would want and that isnt what the Lord would not want that. What I do is enjoy the holidays now and remember the things that my brother liked to do and add that into the holiday events. That way it feel like he is kind of here with me. Hope that things get better for you and sorry about your lost. Prayers coming your way.
You never get over losing someone that important.......my grandmother was that person for me too......she raised me. She made the holidays special for everyone......even though she struggled with depression. She even bought extra small gifts just in case someone didn\'t have anywhere to go, she made them feel welcome.
I don\'t like this time of year either......I\'ve tried to make it special for my kids, but it was hard. I\'m actually glad that they have significant others.....takes the pressure off and I don\'t feel so overwhelmed.
I hope you find a way to deal with the holidays.
