Feeling heartless
Good Morning, Soths - this is not the "end of the world" journal but I need to vent and then go on about my day @ work.......
A co-worker lost her fur baby last week after 13 years....I so get it - they are truly family and it hurts our hearts when they are no longer @ the door greeting us everyday or listening to us....I get it!!! You are sad...That being said - this co-worker had her dog cremated and she picked up the ashes yesterday - this morning she is going on and on and how hard it is to pick up that box and to think that's "ginger".....I walked away without saying a word - But what I wanted to say is " PICK UP YOUR MOM OR DAUGHTER IN A BOX......LIFE CHANGING.....HEART BREAKING.....GUT WRENCHING.....AND THIS FRICKIN JOURNEY IS FOREVER LASTING......I get it - you are sad but in my heart there is no damn comparison. guess it's all relative to that person, isn't it.
Okay, I'm done....Thanks for listening and I pray I didn't offend anyone, because I have 2 fur babies and they truly are so comforting but REALLY....

I understand dear Vicki... Glad you could come here to vent because that is what we all must do. Never, ever carry this kind of thing alone.
The ultimate loss IS a child and no one can even begin to touch this deep sorrow and anguish unless they are a soth. God help them to ever have to join us...
Loving care and lots of deep, deep breaths in the midst,
XO Joanie
Having lost my daughter and several furbabies who were part of my heart.. they both hurt BUT nothing is as bad as losing Jenn...
As Joanie said, I hope no one else ever has to join our ranks.
Hugs, MaryLou
Your co-worker basically compared an anthill with a mountain........! And I think she is so caught up in her own little world, that she is unable to notice the pain she causes. You are a brave lady, Vicki! xxx
I understand. Your co-worker does not. You were right to just walk away.
I am glad you came here to vent!
Tight hugs, M
Someone who has not lost a child can truly not understand what you have been through. It\'s hard to listen to someone go on about the loss of a pet, there is no comparison.(I have also lost beloved dogs) Walking away is the courageous move. I know it hurt your mom heart. XOXO Debbie
Vicki, I have been through this experience too. Folks going on & about the passing of their pet. It has hurt me too & I had to walk away. No one understands except another SOTH. And these people are so lucky they do not understand. I wouldn\'t wish this pain on my worst enemy but there are times I wish people could be a bit more sensitive. I have said goodbye to many pets that I loved but nothing hurts the same way that burying your child hurts. Tight hugs of understanding, Linda
I don\'t think you offended anyone, Vicki. We understand and venting is okay. And you are certainly not heartless! As a dog groomer, I hear stories all the time. Old clients will stop in to let me know that \"Fluffy\" passed away. You know that when you adopt a pet, chances are that you will outlive it. No one expects to outlive their child and of course, there is simply no comparison. It was okay to walk away. Everyone\'s greatest loss is their own, whether it be a pet or a person close to them. After my son died, I had a young co-worker tell me that, while she understood that it was different, she was so hurt when her childhood cat died at age 17. I remember just blankly staring at her, but in time, I realized that, for her, it was her greatest loss. We can try to understand them, but they also have to understand us to the best that they can. Hugs, Belinda
I truly hope for your co-workers sake that having to pick up the cremated remains of a beloved pet. \'nough said...
Really tight hugs Vicki, and YES, we all get it!!!

I have six fur babies and I know I will be devastated when I lose one but I also know that I will be devastated for a few days maybe weeks, not a life time. However, loss in any form...pet, job, divorce, and death can be truly difficult. Belinda said it perfectly that perhaps for her it was her greatest loss up till now. Let\'s hope so at least. Feel free to rant anytime. That\'s why I love it here, we can vent away and be done! Such an awesome feeling. Much love. Robin
So sorry this all adds more intensity to your pain. I know my fur babies mean the world to me but they are not part of my human family. I am glad you were able to vent.
Sending love your way,
Leda
I think we all get it
My sister did that to me... yes.... just about 5 months after Morgan left,,, she called and said how she understands now because Ally is gone,,,, boo hoo..... I was in shock . I did write about it here many years ago.... it still hurts to think my sister compared the 2... so understand! love ya!
Yes our loss cannot be understood by those who are not on this path. Lucky them!!!!
You did right by walking away, as everyone has said. There is nothing comparable to the loss of our children and unless someone has they have no comprehession. Gods Blessings
