Feeling Guilty Again

Sunday, October 4, 2009 - 12:30 P.M. During the past week, I have spent a lot of time feeling guilty for refusing to go on my vacation during October, just as my brother, Dale, and Dr. Martin had wanted. I realize this sounds somewhat strange, but I do not want to be rude to those people who are actually trying to help me arrange to take this trip. I think that in the e-mail I sent to both Dr. Martin and Dale, I may have been too assertive explaining to them why I would not be taking my trip in October as they had wanted me to do. As I of today, I have not heard from either of them, but I do have an appointment to see Dr. Martin Wednesday afternoon.   My sister is supposed to be flying back from England today. She sent me an e-mail last week, in which she indicated that she had not had a good time while in Italy. Apparently, the friend she went to Italy with made all of the hotel reservations, and she somehow managed to put them in a location that was an hour and a half from everything they wanted to see throughout the week. In her e-mail to me, my sister said that she was very lonely, and missed all of her family very much. She gave me the distinct impression that her traveling days are over for the time being.   I am continuing to have a lot of computer problems, which has been making it extremely hard to do much of anything online. One of the people who works for me, and knows a lot about computers, has tried convincing me that I need to get a new computer. He says that although my present one has a lot of memory in it (74 GB), the computer itself is now outdated and is running out of system power resources. He told me that if I would get a new computer, he could transfer most of my old memory into the new computer for me. He says he is willing to do the work for me, and at a fraction of the cost. At this time, I think that I am going to let him do just that.

The computer resolutions sounds perfect to me if it is an option that is available to you. You can always donate the old computer to goodwill or some place else.
I understand about the trip.
You know you want to go, but you also know that you do not want to go now.
I am not sure how you can be too assertive in this area.
Fact is fact.
Besides, these very people are telling you that you need to be true to yourself, you need to do what is best for you.
It does apply to them, also.
I think you are doing a good job at figuring out what you want and standing firm.
Everything will work out.
I love seeing an ok face on your status.
Horrible red faces are just too unsuitable for you...you are doing well, you know.
That cat avatar is cool too...is his name Sylvester ? Isn\'t he the guys that lisps and spits when he talks ? I remember him.
Take one day at a time.
Solve your Wednesday appt. on Wednesday.
You will do the right thing.
You know what you want.

Hi Jim I don\'t think you have ANYTHING to feel guilty about as far as your vacation goes. You have a RIGHT to travel when YOU want, NOT when OTHERS think you SHOULD. You also deserve a new computer as well. many hugs-Stephanie

Sounds like your computer might have \'OS rot\'. Unless you buy a copy of SpinRite from grc.com and run it to make sure (you should own one anyway) and do a defrag to make sure all your stuff is in the right places.

I\'d wait for Windows 7 to be released though, we\'re hearing good things about it.

Unless you go Mac.

I vote for mac! No viruses and reliable. You could get a mac mini and use your new monitor with it.

I think that it\'s normal to feel guilt when you stand up for yourself. I felt more than guilt. It was almost painful when I first started to look after my needs at what seemed like the expense of others. I don\'t understand why they care so much that you take the trip in October. It almost feels like control. I know your brother is a bit of a controller so it\'s normal you\'d be wary there. I think it other people were adamant about when I take a vacation I would get my back up. It would seem suspicious.
