feeling estatic

Ok I'm feeling estatic today thank you friends for your encouragement.  I went out yesterday and worked my dog for about 45 minutes and that helped. (Even though I had to wear my helmet which makes me look so stoopid) But at least I'm protected and no real complaints there. Working my dog is probably one of the best therapy's I know of.  (Besides you folks of course) I did get a little out of breath but I attribute some of that to the fact I was working in some steep terrain and about 6 inches of snow. It gets me out of breath under normal conditions so thats ok. I figure any exercise I do either for my lungs or my body has to be good for me, RIGHT? Maks the wonder dog did awesome and did 6 perfect finds and indications after about 1 month of no real training exercises thats a positive thing. We worked 3 of those searches on 80 acre blind searches. Maks also did 2 perfect cadaver finds, so now you can see why i'm smiling and feeling estatic.  I'll be working Maks again sometime this evening as I am going to be showing him off to a fellow dog dork who has a drug dog from a neighboring county and he wants to see how a search dog works, and indicates.

So glad that you are feeling better today...I read your journal yesterday and was thinking about you...and pulling for you :) I think that it is good to just give ourselves permission to cry about all of this sometimes. There will be overwhelming, sad, pity days and then other days when we feel we can conquer the world. I go between the two...usually after I cry I do start to feel better. I think that doing something you love also helps (dogs are great! I just got a new one...just love her :) Sometimes I just gotta say \"Screw this PE...I need to just ignore it (not my medicine) and enjoy life\"

Take care, Nancy

Nancy, you are so right and I think I really did need to work my dog. I got the chance to work him tonight in 2 night scenarios and he did awesome. Got to show him off a little and he made the live find in about 2 1/2 minutes, and the cadaver find in about 5 minutes. Both times he had to work the problem out as it was a very difficult scent pool.
By the way I bought a cool helmet and have been wearing it so if I do screw up and fall at least my head is protected. Thanks for listening. HUGSSSSSSSS
