Feeling Better Today
Today I'm actually feeling good. I went to work and everything, and even though there was almost nothing for me to do, I still had fun. When I went to Managed Care, everything was down- the phones, computers, fax, printer, you name it. I had only a couple things that had been printed out before the new phones disrupted everything that I could do. Eventually the phones and computers came back on, but the printer was still broken so I didn't know who to call for the referrals. I made a new sheet this morning for work with all the information that I normally write for the women I work for (there are two.... mostly my boss, but when my boss is out of work for me I work for another woman). The head boss liked my sheet that I made and said it was good. I tried using it today and it worked out well. It's less work for me to do, less writing. I woke up a bit early to get that sheet done, since I didn't do it over the weekend like I was supposed to.
Still, I had a nice day. I talked for a while while I was on hold with the woman I share the office with, and even though I had to lie to her about being an atheist (it's very taboo in my office) I was open with her about my cult history. The talk went pretty well. It gave me something to do while I was on hold for 45 minutes. Then Lisa (the woman in the office I was talking to) had me hang up, she called back and sternly asked for a supervisor. That got me right to the head of the line and I made my appointment in a couple minutes and was done with it. I don't know what I would have done if Lisa wasn't there... the hold music was not very good (better than some, though). I guess I would have just gotten out my book and read. But still, it was nice to have someone to talk to, and make friends in the office. I'm trying to be more social and happy.
I'm glad I went to work today. Even though I didn't get a lot done work-wise, I got to have a nice talk and get to know some of my coworkers. I even finished early and got to go to the Information Desk for a while, and that was nice too. My coworkers there live nearby and go for walks after work, but I can't go with them because they walk too far too fast. I've tried walking faster, but I can only go like a block before I have to sit because my heart is pumping too hard. I don't want to stress out my heart, and I don't want my asthma to act up, either. I haven't gotten an attack in a while, and I want to keep it that way. I can feel it coming, though, when I walk too fast.
Mood today was good... I know I had a bad weekend, but I feel like that's so far behind me. I'm going to go to work for the days we are open this week- tomorrow and Wednesday. Then it's closed for Thanksgiving. I wish the office was open on Friday, because I have a feeling I'm not going to be doing well on Friday, but I have to think positive and plan on doing well. I think the more I psych myself into feeling bad on weekends, the worse it's going to get. I can't expect to feel bad or else I am going to feel bad, you know? I was thinking of asking my boss if I could come into Urgent Care on the weekends sometimes so I have something to do. I just don't know if that's such a good idea, though, in case I want to do something on weekends like go out with Geo's family. I just found out this afternoon that my boss won't be in until Monday, so I can't ask until then. I just have to get through this long weekend and see how it goes and consult with Geo.
Food today was good again. If I can keep eating cereal in the morning I think I will be able to meet my calorie goals for the day. It's just hard, since I wake up so late that I'm normally not hungry for both a chicken thigh and a bowl of cereal. What I did today is I woke up a bit early and ate the chicken right away, and then later right before I left for work had my cereal. It's only going to work until I run out of cereal, and then I have to wait until next month to get more. I'm all out of food stamps for the month. I was thinking of getting some other stuff for the turkey brine, but I can't afford them, so they are just going to have to not go in the brine. I can't wait until I have a job and I can afford things like whatever food I want. Not to mention the other stuff I want, like new shoes or whatever. I need new shoes to walk in, since mine are old and getting worn out. Oh well, maybe my stepdad will help me out with that when I go to LA, since he's the one that normally buys me my shoes. I'm lucky to have his support. I'm lucky to have a lot of things I have, and I have to remember that on the bad days.
