feeling alive after a ride

A ride to pottsville pa, and a walk around pottsville pa (where writer john o hara, of "Butterfield 8' story/movie was born) might not be everyone's cup of tea, especially if you see  the photos I posted----BUT I LOVED IT.
Actually had fun going for a cruise though nearby coal country, walking about, and paying $2 a piece for dvds at two pawn shops.
A friend down on his luck drove me there; paid him for gas and  I got a ride to get some needed stuff done.   He lives 10 miles away,  we don't have a lot in common, and he'll probably disappear once he gets back on his feet.  But, I do owe him a lot for the ride.  It definately was nice to have a major change of scenery, even if I couldn't afford it.
I guess it really is starting to sink into my thick skull that I really have to get permantly away from my hometown, with bad reminders on every block.
Can be happy in a rust belt/coal region town?----if it's the right rust belt/coal region town?
"Everything's coming up roses!"---thought of that song lyric today.
