Feeeling very thankful

Well, it is now two years today since I was diagnosed with PD.  No progression yet.  Still taking azilect and 1/2 of 25/100 sinemet 3 times a day.  Still, the fear of the disease has been my worst symptom.
Was thinking about my husbands reaction to my diagnosis.  He did not seem to be worried or concerned about it at all.  Kinda bothered me, because it was a very traumatic change to me and scared me to death.   Looking back, I believe that was his way of trying to ease my fear and worry. He trys to keep me from dwelling so much on PD, which I find very hard not to do at times, but I believe that I am getting better.  Could be because I have not progressed, which, again, I am very thankful for.

Birdy over this summer I have changed my outlook on it all. No longer will this disease take the smile from my face, even on its worst day!!! It is what it is and the good lord seems to have wanted me to have it for some reason.
I am so blessed with so many other things in my life that I wont let this disease distract from them.
You have a good husband that loves and supports you. Your disease has not progressed and even if it has its not going to kill you, just make some things more difficult. Live life Birdy rule this disease dont let it rule you!!
May the good lord bless you and all of us that have this disease!!!!!!

Good advice Tim. Birdy - that is awesome that its not progressing. Wish I could say the same. My husband reacted the same. It must be their protective nature. We have a rule that only one of us gets to freak out at a time. Of course I seem to monopolize the freaking out moments. lol

I hope you can continue this non progression stage for a long long time. Take care and give your husband a big hug for being so supportive.

Hugs!

Hi Birdy,

That is fantastic news! I am so pleased for you. Like CM though I wish I could say the same. I am with Tim too, his advice is pretty much how I feel about it all. Were I seem to stand alone is how my husband (and family) reacted to my diagnosis, they lost it completely, wrapped me in cotton wool and smothered me. They still try to at times, it drives me mad as it is so frustrating not being treated as I was before - lets say it\'s led to a few tense conversations!

Keep up the good work, you sound wonderful.

Thanks to everyone for your comments. Was very heart warming. Really helps to have friends who understand and experience the same feelings. I really do have a wonderfull supportive husband.

Just read your entry Birdy... How wonderful. It\'s great that the pd hasn\'t progressed. My husband reacted the exact same way when i was diagnosed like \'cM said it must be in their nature...Its been 3 and a half years for me and mine has been steadily progressing but i have come to terms with that and like Tim I am not going to let it beat me. I make the best of the good days and do try to keep that smile on my face even on the bad ones. It\'s funny how it progresses so differently with each of us but as i always said you just roll with it and keep going... You\'re doing great and i\'m really happy for you... hugs, paula

Have not been on here for about 7 years.. I just got lost when Daily Strength made a big change. I really did not progress at all for about 6 years after I was diagnosed. The progression started when my husband got pancreatic cancer and died in October of 201 6. I do think it was because of all the stress. I now have a bad balance and blurred vision problem and keep falling. So thankful to God, I have not broken anything yet. Just a lot of pain from injuries, especially when I hit the corner of a piece of furniture with my ribs.. My Doctor says that there is nothing that can be done about the falling. He wants me to use a walker. I have one but do not use it, Cannot figure out how that would keep me from falling and it is too hard to manipulate through the house. I just walk very slow and carefully and pray a lot.
