February 4, 2015 - no end in sight...

Hello Everyone,
Hopefully someone will read my journal.  Things have been going so so.  I have been out of work over 6 months with nothing in sight.  There have been interviews but I never get an offer.  Employees love to have more than 1 interview for participants.  I might get to the 2nd interview then nothing.  I lost unemployment insurance the 1st week of December.  Xmas was non existent.  Im glad thats over with.  I've been doing homecare as a caregiver but there isn't enough hours and enough money to draw a good paycheck to make ends meet.  I recently took a huge hit on my Kaleida Health retirement fund because I needed to pay bills.  I recently brought Bruce in here to live with me to help with paying bills (we have been talking about it).  Its helping some.  The brunt of the living expenses is still on him and I feel bad about it.  I almost think that I am being blackballed from being an Administrative Assistant or a nursing/homecare scheduler because of what happened at Kaleida and Catholic health.  Its tough to have 2 black marks on my resume and its hard when they ask me "why was I let go from my last position".  My last interview the manager kept stressing about "details" "paperwork" "fast paced" over and over again.  Makes me think that they called my employers already and stressed severely about the job and  said that it gets busy and trying to tell me that I will not be hired.  So frustrating.  My friend from my last job tried to get me into her place, got me an interview and decided that I couldn't handle their workload. It was a very small homecare agency and they decided to hire a non healthcare person who is screwing up royally.  Apparently, there is some kind of shake up going on there and hired a consultant (the former president of Visiting nurses where I use to work 10 years ago) and when he saw my name on a list of people they interviewed he completely lost it.  He asked them why I wasn't hired for the job because I knew  how to do it.  They couldn't answer him.  So apparently, I think they are planning on hiring new people.  She is jumping ship anyways because she realized that they were a bunch of BS people.  My cousin who knows a lot of doctors told me about this one physician who would like a front desk person, I interviewed and she wanted someone who knew how to do a particular program and skill set.  I told my cousin that many doctors expect a certain skills set from applicants.  If I had the skill set then I would have been able to do the work.  The interview lasted 10 minutes, told he that she had to talk to a few applicants and I doubt that she will call me to work for the doctors office (even though I sent her a thank you letter). Beginning to think that its not who you know but whether you have the right skill set and whether they like you.  They won't hire you if you are so so friend or so so cousin.  

One good news is that I finished my bachelors degree in Health Informatics on January 19.  I can now say that I have my bachelors degree.  Its funny, now I am seeing that employers would like associates or high school diploma on job postings.  So ridiculous.  Maybe they want skills more than schooling.  I am looking to get my MA in health informatics now at Southern New Hampshire University.  This time in Information Technology.  More in the computer end of Health Informatics..  I have been talking to an admissions counselor the last few weeks.  My dad had something happen so I will be waiting until April to start.  Which is when I wanted to start in the first place.  I need  a little break.  To see if I can get some work with my bachelors degree.

On top of everything, I have been sick with this damn flu/cold that everyone is getting.  Its been 2 weeks.  Blah!!
