he is being nice but it is quite evident that he is taking tranquilizers every day. it is really getting under my skin! not really listening when i speak, constant "napping", poor concentration. now, i know he is anxious about tax time and he had a doctor appt for a chronic condition, but these do not need the numbing effects of meds.  he called me at work after the appointment and the level of stoned was too much for me to deal with. so after our 'pleasant' conversation , i gathered my thoughts and called him back:
1) called rather than face to face confrontation. 2) told him he did not need to answer me or explain himself. 3)stated with the utmost respect that my intuition told me he was using tranquilizers every day.4) told him this did not make him a bad man but he was playing with fire. 5)asked him to examine his attitude about the pills. 6) reinforced that this behavior would result in a peaceful coexistence and nothing more. 7) told him that if he was angry at me or "punishing " me when i got home that i would consider that my answer and we would move forward from there.
wanted to tell him that although the pills give him a temporary illusion of serenity, they would just make everything worse again.
he said slurringly "alright then" and i said good  bye.

ps- oh and wouldn\'t it be nice if the *(Nasty word of your choosing)* thought it over and called me back with some words of encouragement, remorse, kindness, understanding, etc. instead of licking his wounds, working up an attitude and /or passing out.?

I just don\'t get it. I read about your addict and think about mine and can\'t figure out how watching life tick by from a drugged-tired-sleepy place has any satisfaction. It\'s so much more to live it. My addict talks about going to Bora Bora one day and staying in cabins on the water and I keep thinking, \"That\'s possible...IF...you get a job and save up and live your life instead of being depressed & sleepy all the time!\" Anyway, I can sympathize with your frustration.

thanks. i just dont get it either, i got home from work and told him he had free will and every right to choose this, but if he did he had better be ready to let me go.... i outlined exactly how it would go. who knows? really dont think they can let it in. :( my puppy LOVES me though. and i havent felt such simple joy in too long so glad i got her.
