family vacay

last year's road trip feels worthy of repeating this year. 2.5 years into our stormy adventures, our motley crew still feels more like a ship of fools than a valid family. "are you my mommy?" sorta, but i think you rattled my daughter-in-law's grave with that question. she is still kinda facebook spooky when i claim to be doing the mommy job.
by whatever names and norms, last year's road trip is fondly remembered, covidic weirds and all. we arenae attempting to replicate last year's road trip. we are shooting to further explore last year's highlights. those were hot springs, arkansas and the pirate's den. the kids call the pirate's den "dos's house," and my "delusional old sister" has turned my pirate's den into a hen den. by whatever name and reference set, we are all excited that we get to do it all again.
i've heard it said that success is where you jump out of bed in the morning and exclaim, "wow! ! ! i get to do THAT again."
are we successful or am i just lost and alone in yet another delusion of granduer?

This sounds like a good get-away for all. keep the plan somewhat loose since kids see things through their own lens. So uncluttered. Gotta love it.
it's time to get this show on the road. THE PLAN is to have the van packed and ready to roll first thing in the morning. not first thing in **my** morning. i will still need to wake up the roosters and baton the hatches before we actually hit the road. dare i hope the kids will keep to the fashionably late risings they have been trying on for size since the last day of school? i think i will allow myself to hope, but i willnae bet the farm on it. nor will i hold THE PLAN sacred. life is what happens when i am busy making plans. take it as it comes.
now that it is finally time, i am making more messes than i am cleaning up as i attempt to execute THE PLAN. the urge to **just try harder** is pretty fierce this morning. herstorically speaking, trying harder creates more collateral damage than progress for the cause. taking therapy breaks helps me focus my energy more effectively. did my journaling tool come through for me again?

IT'S TIME. . .
and i'm fissuring like a mandator at a mask protest. is it good news that at least i'm not creating collateral damage in the effort to push past the fissures. the rest of the household is ominously quiet. methinks we are soaking in the still newish comforts of home. it's good to adventure secure in the knowledge that we have a secure base of operations to come back to.
nudge, nudge. . . time to load up the van. the gods may laugh at our plans, but planning gives us goals to shoot for.
keep your eye on the prize.
