False Positive
Well I just had to go do it to myself... I did a HPT today, it was one of those cheepies from the net, so when I realised that the stick I was using was not really taking up the pee as fast as it should, I got a second one and dunked it in for about 12 seconds or so.. bad move...
I let the sticks dry for a bit and then walked away, suddenly I realised that I had left the sticks without checking them, so I went in to have a look 45 minutes later (that was my second mistake) so the stick that didn't take up the pee was clearly negative, but the other was clearly positive, my heart skipped a bit, could this be it??? that, was my third mistake.
I ripped open another stick and though it wasn't early morning urine I peed into a cup and did the test... NEGATIVE.
Still not convinced I spent the next 2hrs (yep, like I have nothing better to do...) looking at the sticks trying to see (more like imagine) lines on the two negative ones.
So what do I do, I rip open a fourth, do the test again (this is now about lunch time) and yep, you guessed it NEGATIVE.
So I have come to the conclusion that becuse I let it go over time, I can't know for sure when it developed and since it is 3 v/s 1, it is a definite negative at 9DPO . I guess the extra pee must of given me a evaporation line. I know some people would tell me not to lose hope, but I have been here sooo many times over the last three years that I kind of know how this ends.

9 DPO is really pretty early to be testing. Even the early results tests say they\'re 99% effective when used the day after your period is due, not 5 days before your period is due. Do not give up hope. Try to wait until 12 DPO and do an HPT w/ your first morning\'s urine. At this point you do not know if you had one false positive or 3 false negatives. I\'m hoping for the latter. Just be patient for a few more days and check again.

Man I have had those days where I felt all neurotic! LOL, I had to giggle at the 4 test, I so can see myself doing that!!!
I agree w/Carrie. It could just be too early. Take a few days & then test again. I thought I had evaporation lines on a HPT that I let \'sit\' too long & it ended up being an acurate BFP!
My advise is you now know it could be neg & so you all ready faced the worst, a BFN. Relax, give it a few days & test again if still neg then you\'re no worse off.

I am the same as you I could not wait and I have tested 4 time in 2 days before. I think you should still test again in a few days if AF does not show up. (((big hugs)))
