Falling back into old routines....
So I was having a bad day yesterday. Very anxious and irritated. I told my husband that I was and when I walked in the door he started joking about how he didn't want to piss me off. I know that is how he deals with my depression by joking and trying to make me laugh. But It just makes me more angry. It makes me more irritated and want to leave and be alone. Maybe just a hug and how can I make it better would be all I need to hear. But he makes me feel as if I am wrong for having the feelings I do or looks at me like I am crazy. I've explained that I have no control of how I am feeling at any given moment and that anything can trigger me to be anxious. He thinks he is being emotionally supportive just caring about me. I appreciated all that he tries to do for me, but I just feel like he just doesn't get it. He doesn't understand no matter how many ways I explain it. I am at the point where I honestly would be ok living on my own and not having to deal with another persons emotional needs. I have no problem doing it for my kids. I gave birth to them and would give them the world. How can I focus on another persons emotional needs If I cant focus on my own???? I am so lost. I don't know what to do. I have no place I can go to get away for a bit. No family where we live. I feel so lost, angry, confused, anxious and stressed. The one person who knew exactly how to pull me out of this hole is no longer available for me to confide in. Am I just being selfish?

chip513,
You\'re not being selfish... I think you are being honest. It\'s crazy how you could be on the opposite side of my situation. There are similarities. I finally \"got it\" with my wife, I cut the chords of loving her, going to her, trying to communicate with her, fix her, etc,... everything for about a week and a half now. Detachment. It just got to the point where I realized she was either in a place where you are or she was/is talking to someone else but I can\'t enable her anymore, she needs to find her own way. I still love her, but I cut those chords! Sending you some peace and serenity!
