fall is here
Hi Everyone, Fall is finally here in North Carolina. The nights and mornings are so cool and crisp. I expect it is really getting cold for my friends in the north. The accorns falling have been like pistol shots on the metal buildings. We have raked and swept them up by the bucket full. Old tales say when a lot of accors fall it will be a rough winter.
My oldest daughter went to the woolly worm festival in Chimney Rock NC over the week end. You can purchase a worm for $2.00 and put in a race for $1000.00. She named hers woully bullie. But her worm was lazy and didn't win. It is a street festival and she and her husband go every year. The leaves are beautiful in the mountains but I haven't got to go so far this year. I would like to take my dog and just walk in the leaves. Oh and take Steve too. hehe
I always wanted to go to Maine and the northern states to see the sites in the fall. But that hasn't happened yet, maybe someday.
It will be Christmas soon. I will remember all of my DS friends especially during that time. I can imagine that the holidays are the absolute most painful time when you have lost a loved one. I can truthfully say that when my Mom and Dad died our families just stopped getting together. No one wants to put forth the effort anymore. I had some gatherings for a while and then that just stopped happening. Their was seven of us children. Can you imagine raising 7 children now? I used to tell Daddy that he just had us to work on the farm! It was nothing for us to start hoeing a field of cotton that was 20 acres big! I would tie my shirt up under my breast and wear my short shorts and hope Steve would drive by! And of course the mailman would drive by slowly! I laugh out loud to think of that old goat now!! LOL
love yall, Wanda
