Extreme weakness and fatigue
For the past couple of weeks I have been suffering from extreme weakness and fatigue. It doesn't take much to wear me out. I get out of breath and weak very easily. After rest I feel a little better. I walk slow and rest often if I have to walk any distance or do anything the least bit strenuous such as doing laundry.(Laundry room is in basement and I'm on the 3rd floor with no elevator). Even when I don't walk around I feel tired but it's much worse when I do anything.

The feelings that you are experiencing are very normal, the cancer is causing your body to go into a defensive mode. Your blood counts certainly are changing all the time, you will feel much better after surgery and hopefully you will not need chemo or radiation. Chemo and radiation will also do a number on your blood counts and again you may feel tired. Think positive and do take time to pray.....You very seldom mention God??? Are you Christian? Permanent Healing comes from God. Mind power carries with it the unfailing energy of God. That is the power you want in your body!! Be strong...Ron
I\'m not a religious person. So it\'s my immune system going into overdrive that is causing the fatigue and weakness?
It has been two years for me but I was certainly tired and weak for a good long period of time both before and after surgery.
Does it take a long time to recover from surgery?
Depends on the type of surgery on your recovery period-with what your body is going thru right now-it may take some time for it to get readjusted t o its new electricity :)
Don\'t suppose a neighbor would haul your laundry for you-for a small fee even? Or how about getting a heavyduty cloth bag to put the clothes in and drag it up and down-perhaps a teenager wanting to earn a little money?
It would be a colon resection surgery. Basically cut out the piece of the colon with the tumor and sew the remaining ends together. The doctor said I might have to have an ostomy temporarily until things heal. I live in a small apartment building with 8 apartments. There are only adults and I don\'t know the neighbors who live outside. My boyfriend could bring the laundry up and down while I\'m recuperating from surgery.
