exercise goal #1 - 1st day at the gym
Hello my good DS friends!
I returned to the gym on 3/1. It was extremely busy there - I guess the new years resolution people haven't left yet. They will, in the next week or so. Every machine was practically used. I hopped on the treadmill and walked for 30 minutes. 10 minutes at 3.2, 5 minutes at 3.4, 5 minutes at 3.6, 5 minutes at 3.4, and finally 5 minutes at 3.2. Nice an easy workout. Didn't overdo it (the last time I worked out right before my 1st cancer lumpectomy surgery - I was actually running at 5.5!). Then went on the eliptical which I just stayed on the 1st level. The eliptical is kinda hard at the beginning. I did get really good the last time. I stayed on the eliptcal for 20 minutes. I think when I go back tonight, I will try and start on the eliptical because the treadmill seems to be easier.
I actually felt fine afterwards, which is a good thing. A little sweat and push can't hurt anyone. Gotta make my time worthwhile.
I will be doing 30 minute treadmill and 20 minute eliptical for the next 3 weeks, 3 times a week the same workout. Have to get my muscles a chance to catch up - too much resistance/distance would tire me out. Not good for me since its been almost a year since I worked out (I can't count October - I went once and then had to deal with my health issues such as my 2nd benign lumpectomy). I want to keep going. then I will continue to increase the time/resistance/distance by 5 minutes, .2 speed on the treadmill every 2 weeks.
Gotta get ready for the "biggest loser" and the Kaleida Health system 5K training program on Thursdays starting 3/24, which goes until the corporate challenge. It will be nice to get in shape for the thing so I am not dying after run/walking 3.5 miles.
I cannot believe my weight is 191! What a slug!!! Thats what I get for being so sedindary. Hard to believe that I ran a marathon in 1998, ran several 15K, 10K and close to 50-60 5K races in my area. I am so dissappointed in myself for getting like this. Thats gonna change. Lots of health issues that I had to take care of - tests/procedures and dr appts. At least its over with, until the end of the summer.
