Excited/New things happening
I feel pretty rejuvinated today. I had my first time visit with a new ob/gyn, referred by my perinatologist. So I knew it was time for a pap. I haven't been examined since my miscarriage in May '08. I've also had some concerns with constant cramping throughout my cycle and lastly, I'm on month 8 of ttc. This particular doc, Dr. Pesch (WONDERFUL), specializes in fertility and I've been so excited for this appointment. It took over a month to get in and see him. I hear he's one of the best! I finally feel like I'm moving forward in my next step in ttc. It feels good to do something different besides the month to month agony of waiting and testing and checking and charting. UH! Anyway, we talked and discussed my future fertility plan. He was absolutely thourough and explained each step. First, I had the exam and Dr. Pesch thought everything felt normal. The next step was to see him 2 to 3 days into my cycle to take blood tests which will test for ovulation and if there's any thyroid issues. Even though my charts say i'm ovulating, sometimes there's underlying ovulation issues we don't know about unless checked. Today is actually day 14 and I will be in Cancun on those days so, if I'm not pregnant, I will take the blood tests next month. Then, I'm seeing him on CD 7 to do a saline infusion and ultrasound to check for any fibroids, cysts and to be sure my fallopian tubes are opening properly for ovulation. I think they also check for any endometiosis issues. During this time, he wants my boyfriend to get a check up and sperm analysis. Dr. said 40% of ferility problems come from the male end. After all these tests, we'll decide where to go from here. Since we're older, I'm 35, Ian is 36, he suggested we discuss IVF as a definite option sooner than later. He said normal couples under 35 should wait a year, but sometimes couples over 35, they say should start fertility treatments as early as 6 months. He also talked to me about the fertility drugs we will try before the IVF option. But we're going to wait and see what comes of these tests. Also he discussed with me further tests I would have to undergo should any of these tests come out positive. Of the 7 months we've been ttc, I have never used an OPK. I always relied on charting my BBT to ensure ovulation. But now, so many months later and knowing this appointment was approaching, I decided to "double check" ovulation and buy the tests. I bought First Response and started testing on CD 10, that was just this past Saturday. Luckily, I am so regular and usually always ovulate on day 14 and have a 28 day cycle so when I got a negative yesterday (CD 13), I was very worried. I had my appointment this morning with Dr. Pesch and told him I've gotten negatives all week so far. He said test today too, you never know. So I just did this afternoon and I got a BFP OPK! It's so cool to finally get a positive on someting I peed on! Granted its not a HPT, but I'll take it! So that's definitly a relief. I know I'm all over the place here but there's so much going on and writing in this journal helps me sort everything out if you know what I mean. So my BF just left to go out of town today and last week when I calculated it, I knew he'd be leaving just a little too early for baby making, but just barely. I know we have a chance but we can't BD after day 14 (which is today). So at that time last month, I was all distraught about getting AF again and getting a BFN and all crabby so I booked a trip to Cancun with my sis, leaving Feb. 20th, 2 days after AF is expected! So now that I know I'm about to ovulate, I guess there is a chance! We BDed last night and this morning. AND we also tried the every other day thing again beforehand. I wonder what our chances are given that I'm expected to ovulate in 12 to 36 hours and there's no more BDing:( The only other problem I'm having and I'm mad I forgot to discuss this with the doctor, is my lack of EWCM around this time. I practically have none and if I do, it's usually only for a few hours and it's seems to come on way earlier than ovulation. So far, this month, none. I have Pre Seed and decided not to use it this month due to the fact that I'm going to Mexico. If it doesn't happen this month for us, this will probably be the only month I won't be very upset. My sister said she needs a drinking buddy..ha ha. But, with that being said and all joking aside, there was no way I couldn't not try, ya know? I thought about not trying, but noway. Now that I know I'm ovulating, I will be very excited to try the Pre Seed next month. I do hope that my next post is a positive one. I feel good this month so far. Meeting with Dr. Pesch really gave me a lot more insight into my chances of conception and his positive energy gave me hope. I just can't believe it's been 8 months already!
