everyone who used to go dancing/clubs, does small dinners now or goes fishing. we r old.
statin was knocking me out. i got twice as much done being off of the statin, and none of the aches in the joints which is a side effect. so until i go off of statin completely, i'll have to not take it part of the time, just so i can get things done around the house. ultimately, i'm going to have to go back to living in a hi-rise condo, which is what i prefer anyway (i hope the next one has an indoor AND an outdoor heated pool), and have land for the animals elsewhere. a lot to figure out with that. would really love to have one more adventure, and be living in california or something, but i can't because dry climates cause seizures for me and i have trouble breathing there as well. what a mess.
its funny, before i got married - i LOVED being single and didn't want to give it up -- when i'd be on a dating craze, i'd say, well, just ONE more fling/relationship. me and my friends used to go out a LOT, same in college, then in small groups when working in large cities, because dating became dangerous because you could get diseases from having sex....but life kept going and the next bunch of schools i went to, all while getting certified at different things and working, would be another set of friends and different kinds of going out, always involved with dancing, music, etc. one of those. i didn't start doing the quieter kind of out with weekly dinners and movies until the last ten years....i used to view that as something you do with older family or with children, not with friends.
then the next adjustment, was those same dinner/movies friends -- people started dying off - and that is all within the passed six years. its k and jc, who knew how to do the quieter dinners. jc's wasn't really that quiet. there was always a music jam at his house, and there would be more than one movie on in two different rooms and then whoever was by the pool outdoors, spontaneous dinners that he or his musician father cooked generally, a blender of drinks, in the blender or his father's dandelion wine. as with k's, you bring something or split on this stuff, its not just there. amazing the neighbors put up with all the noise from that, as its late night.
k has always done dinner with tv shows or movies, as part of his life. back then it was the new show, six feet under, whatever year that came out. he does the cocktails and the courses for dinner, all served properly somewhere between formal and casual. i missed most of the six feet under thing, until a couple of years into it. i wasn't quite understanding that next stage of life. j was still grilling back then, because ten years ago, the kids were still kids. at jc's there are always kids at some point, because they have kids so young in his family and his mother kind of supports everyone as far as real estate goes even though she doesn't actually live with ANY of them. lol.
patk was another one who liked doing dinners and always cooking. she used to work in bars her entire life, so she still sleeps all morning and her house is totally lit up at midnight, stop ins at midnight is "normal" over there. she is always up until 2 or 3 a.m. at least. but never come by in the a.m. she'd be horrified. she hasn't done dinners since her husband died a few years ago. another death.
everyone else who used to go to clubs, took up fishing as a hobby, so at midnight by many of the bridges around here, you will see people fishing. many of those people, used to go out dancing in clubs, or jamming with bands. now they fish from midnight to 2 or 3 a.m. lol. same hours out, it just changes form. our kids used to take the boat out. but it was earlier in the night than that.
then there is dinners out. i don't cook. a lot of people don't cook. so you dine out and have people who also like to dine out. i just realized the number of restaurant buddies is about the same as the number of people who cook. even easier if you have a family member who likes this. there used to also be concert friends. still have this, but in smaller numbers and more obscure. used to be club concerts and larger venues. beach concerts are actually the best, and those were still around, until a few years ago. i think blood pressure stops you from doing that though, its a health thing.
i can't go to restaurants in the summer if they aren't outside because the freezing a/c makes it impossible to breathe. if you go out with someone like mr, you have to worry that they might poison you. anytime i talk to her, i mention how ill i was the one year i hung out in her town. i don't think she realizes that people figure out what she is doing. this is one of the reasons people don't like making new friends or going out in public, you never know what may happen or what you are getting. though according to her, rg is worse.

need to journal daily. lets see. went off my statins because the prescription was wrong. at 40 mg its $25 because the drug isn\'t on the list at publix or walmart etc., but at 20mg its on all the lists and its $4. the doctor\'s advice was buy 40mg and chop it in half. he thought he was helping. when i told this to j and k both flipped because their doctors know exactly how the prescriptions are sold.
listen to me! how did EVERYONE around me become ancient all at once. lol. but we are. who ISN\'T on medication. e claims she doesn\'t take her statin all the time, for the same reason, just enough to control the level of cholesterol and our BRAINS can\'t function without cholesterol. statins KILL the Q10 enzyme so with the statin the prescription should also have Q10 enzyme and it doesn\'t, its just a suggestion, so no one notices. even k didn\'t know this. similarly, if you are on blood pressure meds or water pill, it will deplete the potassium in your body, causing fatigue and confusion because potassium is needed for brain function as well, so on blood pressure meds part of the prescription should be potassium vitamin and it never is, at best its just \"suggested.\"
Except for my psych meds and my thyroid meds, I flat out refused to take any other prescription meds. Doctor wanted me on statins. I JUST SAID NO. As an older woman I refuse to be manipulated into the Western medical system of drugs & surgeries. We\'ve got to \"take back our power\" where docs are concerned. Good for you!
