Everybody Committee

I read an article in O magazine today by Martha Beck. She talked about our inner voices or Everybody Committee as she called them. It was good for me to read again of the power that can be learned from changing who I let my Everybody Committee be. I have been growing in this area for the past year and I was again reminded of my need to keep a new group of inner voices with me who are positive and uplifting. The inner child in me needs the affirmation and not just the shoulds of life. I wrote out some new ideas of how to keep the change going and one idea is to spend an hour every day in this positive mode for 90 days. I guess this is an AA guide as well that I was not aware of.
I have a new list of my Everybody Committee and interestingly for me it includes the support and affirmation I receive here on DS when I allow myself to take the time to check in and read, follow and support this great group of people. What a wonderful thing it has been for me and I am forever grateful and a casual friend who mentioned this site as a place she went to when he divorce happened.
I am by nature very hesitant to share on blogs or journals etc. due to my poor inner critic. I have found there is so much help and strength here if I will just look. We have all struggled through a horrific time in our lives and yet we are able to see how we have been freed from so much pain and unhealthy emotional baggage.
So, for hope to others out there find a keep a healthy, supportive Everybody Committee whether it is books, authors, blogs, friends family or God. Find the loving place and people you need.

This is a phenomenal journal entry, my friend! Sounds like you are doing some really hard work on reinventing yourself and that\'s a good thing! I have never heard this Everybody Committee theory but it sounds interesting and it has motivated you to make some very positive changes. Thank you for sharing it with us.
