".....tired of wandering, looking for shelter and food. Needs a rest and warmth from that frigid winter we had this year.
Two reasons why strays get killed for nothing in this province.
One is the busybodies that play god and pick up any animal and bring them to the pound contractor. The facility is always full to the rafters so if the animal is not deemed adoptable but need care it is immediately killed upon arrival. Those busybodies should understand that by bringing the animal to the pound they bring it to its death. So if they cannot care for it themselves, better leave it be to be helped by a real animal lover.
Second, the system of animal pounds in Quebec was created to clear the streets of strays in the '70's.
But as psychopaths are making a lot of money with the system, they do not care we want to pull a cat from their facility to save it.
Those that do let rescues take cats for a small fee, do it so secretively that we do not know for sure where the animal is coming from.
The contractors are control freaks and use all kind of false regulations and fees to discourage anybody from adopting (buying) animals there. If you enquire about a certain cat, they will ask proof that it is yours, etc. Then a few days later someone will call you back to say the cat had been killed upon arrival.
That is exactly what happened to that poor soul we tried so desperately to rescue from the pound to give it a chance to happiness and a few good years of warmth.
For the last 40 years I denounced the system but it works for other parties: the contractors because they make a LOT of money from municipalities and never render account on what they do with the animals taken in and the elected officials never ask any questions since their streets are free of strays. Stray cats and other critters are just collateral damage to them, its become a racket (which should be covered under racketeering statutes, is it?)

the animals often have that look, like tired and often dirty but not always, sometimes grieving....like i have been through hell are you going to help me. rn is better at those than i am. my first instinct is to protect and give it food and medical care, but also space to just be. i don\'t think that works always though and that is where i\'m at a loss. i\'m not good with anything overly dependent, unless its ill and then i get it.
