Evensong
I love the greenly jungle of you,
leaves and branches arching over,
Shattered sunlight glinting off of rock and stream.
I love the quiet places.
where shallow pools expand, forming a mosaic of reflections;
light and form and shadow
I love the movement of air across the water;
too slight to be called a breeze;
more, really, it's as though the earth exhaled.
As evening falls,
all life is drawn to the flowing water of this timeless grotto.
One by one we take our place.
Bury me here.
Take my ashes in earthen urn.
Nestle me within the roots of a tree.
it need not be secure.
Let me become the tree.
Let me become the stream at flood.
Be the shattered sunlight.
Most of all, let me be that gentle wind
that touches all, embraces all, and then moves on.
Know that I am home.
leaves and branches arching over,
Shattered sunlight glinting off of rock and stream.
I love the quiet places.
where shallow pools expand, forming a mosaic of reflections;
light and form and shadow
I love the movement of air across the water;
too slight to be called a breeze;
more, really, it's as though the earth exhaled.
