ER Sunday & New Possibility
Looks like I will trigger tomorrow and have ER Sunday morning. Right now I have about 7 follies, but only 3 dominant that they are hoping to get at ER. I found out about a new protocol/procedure that my clinic has been developing and it's pretty groundbreaking. It's called luteal phase stimulation (I posted about this on the main board) and seems I am an ideal candidate for it this cycle. It's where they wait for the immature follies that didn't "make the cut" for the ER to grow to maturity, then they retrieve those. It's a post ovulation procedure, and it's great for women who have a lot of immature follies, and really good for older women apparantly. My clinic has gotten a few women in their 40s pregnant this way! So depending on how many eggs make it to fertilization, we might do this second retrieval during the same cycle. Unfortunately that means more stims, more time and energy, and more money (it would be out of pocket, I think about $400).

Oh wow this new procedure sounds promising. I hope it does the trick for you. I\'m always shocked by how many follies you get on a mini cycle. Your a great egg machine! I wish you luck!!!
I too think it\'s so great that you get all these follies on a mini cycle. I think the 400$ is well invested if it can get you more eggs. I\'ll be thinking of you this weekend and I hope all goes great.

Even thought I\'m no longer doing IVF, this is intriguing. So they do a regular transfer, leave the immature follies, then go back later and get them in an additional retrieval?
