entitlement

ok  so we won the ball game,  my son did not get to play but he did learn a few lessons                          ALWAYS BE PREPARED WELL IN ADVANCEhad to take a belt to him at the last second, he had forgotten his belt                         NOT PLAYING< DOESN"Y MEAN YOU CAN"THELP starting LB broke his chinstrap, my son offered up his,  he does know how to share lol  Im not sure if he made any decisions regarding the obligatory celebration rituals his father took part in, but he did spend a great deal of time with his older brothers this weekend, HMMMM?     Family, is important, yet family concerns me greatly after this weekend.  Any of you who have followed my journals, know this about me.  I will defend my family to the max.  sometimes even if they are wrong.   All of my family attended the game Friday night, cept the boys. one is in NewOrleans working down power, the other is in KC,  Not one member of her family showed their faces.  Bitter know way,  Monday night in a game which he would play in, not one member of either of our families showed up.  I feel bad for my son and dissappointment in my folks. They chose instead to attend a B-day party for a non-family member.  Mother and I were both there, and that may be all that attend his HS football games,  doesn't mean they don't care, but it still hurts, and maybe it hurts me more.      STAY LOW HIT"EM HARD AND FAST< DON"T STOP TIL THE WHISTLE BLOWS  could be Im drawing a parallax  from football to life, a face in the stands can never know the feelings in the heart when your on the field

I should add, recently in a discussion of various age groups, it was brought to my attention that lots of kids aged 13 to 21 are being categorized as the entitlement group. they feel entitled to being treated a certain way. I guess I feel that my son was being shirked of his entitlement to have family members come to his games. I dunno

I will completely agree that football can be a parallel! (not a pass either) What team plans on losing?? When you plan it, it will happen because that is what is in your attitude...
As for the sense of entitlement they feel...I am told weekly how hated I am by my son...just means I am doing my job!! What do we owe today\'s youth?? is what I would like to know..we are busier now as a society then ever before, we bend over to keep them active, and maintain them....yet they still want more...
As far as not having the family there...it will sting...but he will always know you are there...

It probably hurts him too. There is no excuse not to support the dreams of children...its all they have.

I love the lessons he learned.

You are a good dad.

I know that feeling. My parents have yet to see my daughter play. She was in the National Championships 1 hour from their house and they did not come. Of course, they had plans, but come on...how often does this happen? They are going to go see my nephew March in a football game in October but they can\'t come see her play? I don\'t understand.
