enjoying the break
Had a great weekend at my niece's wedding. My husband and I were the only ones in our family who went because middle guy wasn't feeling well, oldest still at college had to attend to RA duties, and - of course - is in residential rehab. It was great seeing family and visiting. Hubby and I had a long conversation on the way home and I think we made more progress. He refuses counseling and tells me that we can work it out without one. So fine. That works for me! If I don't see it IS working THEN I will insist on getting some kind of help. Husband visited T. T earned a 3 hour "off campus" visit. They went for a ride..........T got him to allow him to smoke. He also was working him to let him get his ears pierced. Now THAT is one thing I know my husband won't allow. T is so great at manipulating (husband falls for it more than I do) that he thought he could work him into allowing him by not talking to him for awhile during the visit. I talked to his counselor today and she told me that between his case worker and her - the manipulation he was trying on them. Decided that they both would meet with him at the same time. T (like always) presents a different picture to different people. Ya never know when he's telling the truth. In fact, he met with the psych doctor telling her he's experiencing anxiety and wanted a particular anxiety medication. He named a specific kind. The doctor told him that the kind he wants is highly addictive and that the only thing she can give him is an anti-depressant. That wasn't good enough for him because he said the anti-depressants can cause suicide. The doctor thinks that he really is on a drug seeking quest rather than trying to get help for his anxiety. There is no doubt he's experiencing anxiety but if he's unwilling to try something else........and the fact he named a particular drug.........is reason for concern.
