Enjoying life

One of the things about gambling that I hated was that it took all joy from other activities.  Nothing else could compare to the highs and lows of gambling.  Any other interests just died for several years...any time I had I wanted to be in a casino if I could make it happen....In the last couple of days, I watched "Elizabeth, the Golden Age", "La Vie en Rose", and tonight went to see "Vantage Point."  I have always enjoyed movies, and it was great to see these.  "La Vie en Rose" was my favorite of the bunch, and I think the leading actress probably did deserve the Oscar this year....she had some great scenes.   I used to have an Edith Piaf record, but I never knew she had such a fascinating and tragic life....I used to do some theater back in the day, had a weekly local radio show, and also sang professionally (in a small way) for several years....I totally loved it.   At one point, I gave up on all that and went back to school which led me to my business now.  I still have a picture of my name on a dressing room door- maybe I'll drag it out and put it where it can inspire me!  Getting the role I was playing then was the achievement of a goal I had worked toward for several years...Having my life back from gambling gives me the option of pursuing some of my true loves again...I am beginning to be more and more optimistic that life is going to get much better if I just keep working on my recovery a little every day.....

I loved \"La Vie en Rose\" too- I thought it was such a sad story and beautifully acting. I was so surprised that Edith Died at 44! That is so young. I too LOVE singing and dream of being a professional. Now the clothesline and kids are my audience! My dream is to cut a CD. I have a list of songs I would love to you use. French music is my passion too after Paris. I have another good movie for you \"Angela\" It\'s French with English subtitles. - enjoy hugs and love to you today Suzi

It is so true.. gambling did take away enjoyment of everything.. Even when I thought I was enjoying myself, I was thinking about gambling.. There is so much more to life and life is way too short to be throwing it away. I will have to watch that movie- I am always looking for new movies - I do not act and cannot sing, but I sure do hope to go to the red carpet one day!! LOL!! I guess i will have to go as a spectator - maybe I could be a seat filler!!

When I read about your life in entertaining - I can here your \"Soul\" talking. It was and still is something you love. I have learned alot about myself through this addiction - one is that by not allowing our soul to sing, shine, write, dance whatever it was meant to do here we are not truly fullfilled. Let your soul sing again --- and you will see your name in lights. Blessings

Between you and suzi, I get the best feelings from reading your journals. Although I haven\'t seen \"La Vie en Rose\", I have recently started watching movies again. What a relief! I can do normal things again. I even watched some of American Idol last night. I argued with my daughter that Ryan Secrest is strange. It is nice just sitting and hearing how her day went.

I was a singer (if you want to call it that) in a rock band in the early 90\'s. We were just a college town band but did well for ourselves. Lasted about a year, then we kinda started graduating (at least some of us did, I think Mark is still trying to pass Math 112.)

I also hosted an underground radio show on WVUA the University of Alabama\'s radio station. I have a very sexy voice on air, lots of callers at 2-5 am.
Keep singing.

I do, just in the car where normal people can\'t hear me, although summer is steadily approaching.
