Endocrinologist

My appt went well and she was very nice and helpful.  I forgot my meter but told her almost all my readings have been 200 or more the past week or so. (I had 1 at 179 and another at 167 but that was it)  I also said I would like another refresher course on diabetic couseling (mine was in 1902!lol)

I am going to try Ozempic and empaglifozin. These should help lower A1C as well as suppress appetite (hopefully help with weight loss as well) The other one is also to help with A1C and to protect kidneys and heart from extra stress due to diabetes. She is going to see what these do before readjusting my insulins that I am on now. She also said that these may help so eventually I can work my way down on others   I really hate being on so many meds.  Any time a new med is prescribed I get more frustrated and discouraged.

I saw on my other post that a dear friend had begun to record and journal as well as jump on his bike in honor of me and my struggle.  Well Liam, I have also begun to record intake as well as agree to get my big butt back on my bike (That I can do to help with cardio and core strength for now as it is difficult to do alot of walking at present)

I don't say big old butt to be cutting myself up but rather as it has been a standing joke in our family.   My Sister is all of 85 pounds and her grandson is tall and thin . Her granddaughter is 15 and fairly tall and filled out plus muscular from sports.  Of course her little brother did say something about her and her big ole butt and he and his tiny hinee.  As  a result most of the family has admitted to big butts with the exception of Jax and his Nan with their tiny hinees.  lol

Sis was ok the other day. Did want to escape. But has been having regular visits scattered.  The time I spent with my cousin going to see Sis was great for us to catch up. I learned her son (who is 38) has been having all sorts of health issues. he's had some tests done (but not all because he has no insurance) The thing they did tell him was they saw a spot on his liver but said not to worry about it. Cancer runs in their family so he is afraid of that along with other things.  I gave her my insurance broker's name and number and reached out to her to see what she can do for them. I worry not just for him, but for my cousin (his Mom). She had another son who died a few years ago. he was born healthy buit had a reaction to a childhood immunization that cased him to go deaf and have seizures.  I don't know how she would cope if she had to face that again.  The other week he had such a bad spell he told her he doesn't feel he will last long.

I thank you all for your support and ask for prayers for my cousin and her son. I don't think she could bury another  (her only remaining one)

Hugs, Kim

You made me chuckle with the big ole butt reference. As someone from a long line of big ole butts and “child bearing hips” on my mom’s side we always joked about having both. On my dad’s side, it was flat butts and big guts, haha! So we would always joke about that as well. For years, my friend and I always joke around about having “wide expansive” asses, no matter our current weight. It will go something like: Those jeans make your wide expansive ass look good. The jokes have nothing to do with making fun of weight but just kind of embracing what we got, haha!

Glad your doctor appointment went well, I just had my annual check up with my doctor the other day and I was all kinds of anxious about it. I put on weight the past year that I’m struggling to manage (menopause and working from home- terrible combination for me) and just felt almost embarrassed to face it with my doctor. So stupid but you know, shame is a sneaky bitch. Anyway I felt such a sense of relief after my appointment because he truly supports me and is trying problem solve with me. All this inner turmoil and angst is just these old warped thought patterns that crop up occasionally. Meh.

Anyway, keep doing you, Kim!

First off good for you for going to the doctor and trying the new meds and keeping on exercising and eating well. But I am sorry about your sis wanting to escape (this is typical and she will stop after maybe 1-2 months, 3 months if she is stubborn). It will become ehome

Oh, and your cousin and her son. Life just never is easy. I have some hemangiomas on my liver, they are considered benign. The son can look at his written scan report and see what exactly they found or think they found. Sometimes this stuff is so confusing.

I had another biopsy on my breast that they found on the breast MRI since I am in the now high risk cancer screening group. Now I am bruised there. Sigh. My breast cancer doctor said that these MRIs typically find things on the first year. The report called it "suspicious" and the test and biopsy was a real torture. I refuse to let myself get all anxious but I am also thinking how tired I am of being on the medical roller coaster. I hope your cousin's son can get the healthcare he needs.

My cousin said when her son asked about the spot they found they simply told him not to worry. Cancer runs in their family so the kid is scared to death. I need to call her tomorrow and see how he is making out and if he is now hooked up with the help he needs.
