Emotional Vent from Last Night
This past weekend was an affirmation to the truth that lies before me: My true self can be accepted by others.
For so long I have felt like I am hated and judged for what I am. I've been hiding behind masks for so long that I forgot what I looked like underneath. I saw through the cracks and caught a glimpse of my true self. It's not has horrid as I thought it would be.
For so long I have felt that regardless of my actions, I was permanently stained with sin, deserving of harsher treatments.
In this journey I walk, I've come to realize that there is nothing wrong with my true self. True I have flaws and weaknesses that can make me be mean at times, but I don't deserve damnation for what I am.
I'm going to start acknowledging my feelings that aren't healthy and attempt to release them instead of continuing them. It's going to be slow but eventually will get easier. I've already caught myself a few times, forcing myself to take deep breaths and not encourage my snarky/bitchy responses.
My true self deserves acceptance. In resisting my true self, I only cause the chains of my imprisonment to be tightened. In recent weeks I've felt myself grow lighter as the chains have been broken. This past weekend helped break even more from me.
I feel so much lighter and happier as a person now. I'm slowly gaining acceptance of others and in turn my heart is slowly accepting my true self more than it has in many moons.
As someone said to me, I am a great person.
I just need to remember and remind myself that I am a good person.
My will to survive is steadily growing stronger and it is becoming easier to take steps forward. I know I may hit set backs, but that's okay. Two steps forward, one step back, five steps forward, one step back. I will still make progress.
"Fight for your values.Fight for your friends.Fight through this blight,Find the light at the end."
